Would it be a waste if apply for us bank cash considering have old collection and co account won't drop until the end of the year ..

most likely yes, US bank is rather conservative

I wouldn't even apply for a secured US bank card without having the debts fully paid off prior to applying

Nah, USBank Secured cards are basically 99% approval from what I've seen/gathered/experienced. Not saying it'll unsecure any time soon until the collections and chargeoffs get resolved, but I've seen/gathered/experienced the exact opposite happening. My Altitude Go and Cash+ were opened as secured cards with nearly $60K in active unpaid chargeoffs showing (although they were 5+ years old). They unsecured a few years ago after a year of perfect on-time payment history and my TU FICO being around 670 at the time.

I think I would have gotten them both cash+ and alt go if they would have let me

Also just a heads up for the secured card application process. It's basically a black hole after your application is processed. It's a HP on TU and each card you apply for will require a separate HP.

You'll get no notification or decision until you see the funds pulled from your bank account to secure the card, at which point you'll know the card is approved, and it should arrive 7-14 days after that. I believe my TU score was around a 580 at the time of approval.

I mean if you can take advantage of the secured cards that is an option you have available if you have enough money to deposit and not worry about for a while. Maybe not what you want but they are there.

Are we talking about the US Bank Cash+? If so, how about the endless options of the Elan Max Cash Preferred cards out there? Basically the same card (with a lower intro bonus, I believe) but, from what I have read, easier to get?

Same exact underwriters. Definitely not any easier with Elan and Elan cards tend to be a notch worse across the board for benefits than the USBank equivalent.
