Discover IT Product Change?

Hi all - went from $500 secured starting Dec 22' to $2000 unsecured this last cycle. Have only had the card for 8 months or so - question is more for the long term- does Discover do PC ? And if so, what is the timeline and what are the best Discover cards to PC to if possible?

Discover only has 3 real cards. Normal Discover It with the 5% rotating categories, A gas and restaurants card that gets 2% on gas and restaurants and 1% everywhere else, and the travel card which is 1.5x points on everything so basically a 1.5% cash back card.

Honestly the default Discover It card is the best of the 3.

I see no point to PC it. Its a good card to have around for the rotating category but has even less acceptance even in the US than AMEX.

Also it seems Dicover no longer does product changes anymore

Thanks for the reply I was just thinking PC might allow me at a later date to get healthier CLIs over time.

PC'ing the card won't change the fact that it was secured or the amount of spend you put on the card, facotrs which are much more likely to contribute to getting you higher CLI's

at 12-13 months with your discover, start checking the pre-approval tool again and see if they'll offer you the 5% card

As mentioned, the Discover it Cash Back is the only card to consider from Discover. A good reason not to PC is the first year match that Disco offers with a new card. That can be an extra $100, $200, $300 right there.

@swankytiger - Discover also has a balance transfer card which is the same as normal It Cashback with the rotating categories and still has the 1st year match. Where it differs is that it trades out 15mo 0% on new purchases, for the combo of 6mo 0% on new purchases and 18mo on balance transfers. It's not listed on their website but is available via 3rd party links like Credit Karma and others.

I called shortly after my Chrome Secured graduated in June to see if I could PC to a Cash Back and lady told me no and I'd have to apply for one.

So ima say they're not allowing PCs right now.

Back when they actually allowed PCs you could PC your secured chrome to the secured IT and keep the remaining time on your SUB. I know by default you get the chrome as secured I wonder if by calling in your could get the IT insead of chrome. Chrome is a pretty terrible card passed year one.

With the match, Discover IT Miles is a good card for some for the first year (unlimited 3%, before AOD etc!) But without the ability to PC, you then have a pretty useless card after year one. Some churners would get one every other year (closing in between) but don't know if Discover still tolerates this.
