Elan Financial has lost their minds

So I was looking through card offers for a small CU which had their cards backed by Elan. I found a new offering that I could not believe, the Reserve Rewards+. The thing has 6x points on the Rewards Center and 2x on everything else. Now normally that sounds like an awesome boost of a 2% flat card until I got to the annual fee of a whopping $390. The thing might be issued as a Visa Infinite but I am not paying that much per year for a fancy sticker.

They seem to be common from Elan Financial.

I don't even think CUs get residual from these cards, just a one time referral/signup fee!

Pretty deceptive. I don't even see a disclosure of the annual fee on that Associated Bank page.

That's probably an omission by Associated Bank. If you click on the Apply button, it takes you to Elan's page, which does list the $390 annual fee.

The Elan page is pretty standardized, with the different banks/CUs just getting different skins. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of standardization on the bank/CU pages. The tiny local bank I got my Max Cash Preferred through doesn't even list the cards that are available on their own website. Instead they just list some features shared by all the cards (they're VISAs, zero liability, etc.), and then below that is the link to (their version of) Elan's page.

My tiny local bank does have the Reserve+ black card listed on their version of Elan's landing page, yet the art shows the bank's old logo and name, which was changed 2 years ago. So my guess is Elan automatically pushed this out to all their partners.

It does have Priority Pass lounge access, as well as some travel and lifestyle credits.
It is a black metal Visa Infinite card.
The AF and spend required to earn the SUB are on the low end of the sprectrum for metal Visa Infinite cards.
