So this starter card is fairly new.

What is interesting is that the Chase website clearly states if you have at least $xxx.xx in your Chase checking account, then the odds of your approval are better**. So kinda sorta a secured card but not... Your thoughts?

the $250 thing is a funny number, considering unless you're a 17-24 college student, you're eating a $4.95 fee or a $12 fee for not having at least a $1500 balance in checking or a $500 monthly dd

feels like better marketing could better help explain how this card will be an easy unsecured approval for those w/no credit history as long as you have an established checking w/them

$1500 balance to for a no fee checking account? Hell no. Granted I could make that happen but I'm content with my existing bank that just wants me to direct depostit for no fee checking.

A checking account where I am eating fees each month just to have a "better chance" at getting a card, with no indication whether they hold applicants to the same 5/24 as with other cards?

I am grandfathered into one fo those above mentioned account for no monthly fee I have had what 40ish dollars in it for last 2-3 years is all. Was another product discontinued and migrated the people to one of those checking accounts that kept the $0 monthly fee. They try to get me to join Sapphire banking, but ready don't want to keep that kinda money with them
