The holy triforce of bad cards

Right now I hold a credit one platinum, a milestone card and a surge card when I carry way better cards like the navyfed cashrewards, more rewards, 2 cap1 qs apple card and a best buy card LOL. I should probably close all 3 since the annual fees are literally insane and Credit one still won't give me a cli after a year.

We are start somewhere, but yes I close them right before the AF are due (you might as well max the amonth of good credit history/payment histroy that is being reported). I recently close my Credit One Platinum after I denied for a CLI since my limit was stuck at $700. I close the card just a few days before they could charge me a other AF.

Close prior to the AF, but close first via the phone and then send a CMRR to each telling them that you are closing the card. Some have reported that when closing these subprime types...specifically CreditOne...the card doesn't close and they were stuck with the AF. Some have reported then incurring lates because they didn't know the AF had been charged. Also, keep an eye on these accounts for trailing interest after closure.

I never had any of these cards but I do know that some of them...cough...cough...CreditOne...can be treacherous when people try to close them.

@Jeffster1 make good point about CreditOne and trailing interest. My account balance was $0 for months prior to me closing the accout. I also checked my reports and credit app regularly until all 3 major CRAs show the account was closed in good standing with a $0 balance.

credit one talked me into keeping it open for 6 months with no fees and of course just realised they started the monthly annual fees again. I guess I'll call and get talked into another 6 month's.

I guess you have to give them 1/8 an ounce of credit for helping you rebuild. But having 7+ 10k cards now and having to worry about this 400 crap card screwing your credit up is not worth it.
