Capital One entered a duel and lost

Well now. Capital One thought they could skip honoring their offer for a purchase with a merchant. I called 4 different times and talked to 5 different reps to try to sort the the mess out. In the end they refused. Then I tried to offer them a chance at redemption via a PC to a Savor One. They refused that too. In the end all the refusal got met with my refusal to do business with them on my Quicksilver account and I blasted that account closed. I feel so much happier now with the Capital One main relationship gone and only the Walmart card left. I wonder how long until I completely leave Capital One behind.

I've never had Cap One follow through on one of their merchant offers yet. I just ignore them.

What's funny is I tried to use a Capital One online merchant offer (Macy's) a number of months ago, had trouble making the payment, and ultimately used a different card. A few weeks later, Capital One gave me the discount on my unsuccessful purchase, even though the purchase never processed on my Capital One card.

What I find hilarious is I have the exact opposite "problem" (not complaining!!!!) as OP and a similar story to @FormerCollegeDJ.

I'm not joking when I say I get CapOne merchant rewards all the time when I do not use my WalMart CapOne card for anything at all except WM.com purchases and I use my SavorOne but twice a year on small purchases just to keep it alive. Here is my most recent one from a few days ago ($8). Earlier this week I bought my wife a $100 sewing machine from JoAnn's online. I paid with my citi SYW card because I am working on my spend $800 get $250 back for online purchases offer. I think I am up to 'Lifetime' CapOne Rewards of $76 and I've been signed up for less than a year.

I can't explain it. The only thing I can 'think' of that is happening is the CapOne browser extension simply acts as some sort of cash back trigger no matter what (non-CapOne) card I use? Similar to like the Rakuten extension? I dunno! But I'll take it!

Those of you that got payments and did not qualify are lucky. I ended up getting told I did not qualify because part of the order was refunded. Regardless I really did not like the 1.5% in a world where 2% is normal, plus it is a Visa card so not connectible to Curve. I am much happier that I have no more main product with Capital One. Only question now is how long until the Capital One Walmart MC transfers to someplace else. I had cases where they posted payments late just like Walmart was not happy with and had to fix.

That's it exactly. Capital One Shopping offers from the browser extention aren't payment card specific ... you earn no matter how you pay. Of course, the earned points don't post to your Capital One card whether you use it or not; the points are separately attached to the browser extention and you redeem them there.
