It's hard to tell for any 1 individual but you have 5 years of history including a year with Chase under your belt and you already do have cards with good limits from AMEX, Citi, and PNC as examples. IMO Chase should have no real qualms about being willing to extend enough additional credit to bring your aggregate with them in the range of 30-40% of your gross yearly income, which should give you some idea of what is feasible.

As @coldfusion said, the controlling factor isn't as much the number of cards with Chase (or many of the other national banks) as it is your TCL relative to income and Debt-to-Income, FICO, and other profile factors to include credit limits with other lenders. (They aren't like Navy FCU which is known to often be a little more limiting on the first card and open up the purse strings on card two.) I would say a bigger factor with Chase is credit-seeking and how close you are to 5/24. The more credit-seeking in x/6; x/12; x/24, the lower the SL.

My theory on cards with the major banks is they have a general approval range for each card type where most consumers will fall. (Of course, there are always exceptions.) The highest SL approvals seem to come from AF travel cards, and higher fees appear to get higher limits. No AF cash back cards are in the middle. Basic Visa/MC or low-interest cards seem to be at the lower end, but also appear to have easier underwriting.

[My case-in-point. I was 0/24 and applied for several Chase cards over about 18 months with a very similar profile. My most generous approvals were on CSR at $35K with their highest fee; $33K and $30K on moderate AF hotel cards with Marriott and Hyatt; my Chase Freedom (original) came in at $21.9K. I've noticed a similar pattern with other approvals.]

I did a quick search in the forum archives. There's not a lot of specific recent data points about Slate approvals that I could find. The highest SL I found was >this $12,500 limit< from January 2023. There were some really low $500 approvals for building/rebuilding profiles. I would expect something like $5K to $10K as a guess. I found some CLIs on the Slate to much higher limits, but SLs seem inhibited. My guess is that they are trying to control how much free financing they are giving away with the intro offer.

If whatever SL you get is insufficient, you could try the reconsideration line and explain what you hoped to accomplish. Or you could reallocate temporarily from the $9400 CFF line. Chase makes reallocations easy to do over the phone.

I'd shoot for a limit increase on your first card, My first Chase card had a starting limit of $12.5 and after 6 months I hit the increase button and got $19.5 so you are definitely in the window for an increase

Thanks for info/tips. I'm 2/24 at the moment, and haven't applied for anything (no cards, loans, etc) in over a year. The only "negative" thing that has happened to my credit rating is paying my house, which I still think is crazy😂🤷‍♂️
Chase still requires HPs for CLIs, correct? That's why I've never tried to get a CLI.

All Chase CLIs are soft pull now. There's a "Request Credit Line Increase" option on the website or app under the "More" button on the website or "Manage Account" in the app. If that doesn't yield you anything, you can still call or SM to request a CLI and it's still a SP.

I can see you got great advice from everyone upthread including info about soft pull cli's. I was just going to add that you might consider pairing the CFF with a CFU. I was able to obtain a healthy SL(23.4K) with an 18 month 0% APR offer for my CFU which was my 2nd Chase card. Some dp's, I got my CSR in Jan 2022 at the highest APR( this was my 3rd overall card at the time and I was 2/24). After 7 months of responsible usage, I got green check pre-approvals and app'd for the CFU in August 2022. Was 4/24 at time of approval and 2 EX inquiries reporting overall at the time. Chase pulled EX for my CFU. The current CFU offer does not have the enticing 21 month 0% APR but it's likely to yield a higher SL ( from what I can see on this site, etc).

Good Luck and I hope you can get the SL that will meet your immediate needs.

I do have some baddies, so Im assuming thats why I'm not getting any more pre approvals. But i think CFU is my best bet so I can move limits around if I dont get one nearly as healthy as yours.

To be honest, I was surprised to get such a limit for the CFU as I just assumed they reserved those for Sapphire cards and branded cards. If I recall my CARS score( Chase internal) was maybe close to 800 and I believe EX Fico 8 was 760-780 range. I'd guess the baddies may be suppressing the green check marks. But as you say, the double cash and a longer 0% APR would be great. Assuming you're not planning to use up that 4/24 slot and can wait for baddies to fall, might be worth it although double cash would likely be gone. I wish I was under 5/24 but that's not until January 2025.

my experience with chase slate has been.. dismal.. even with six figure income, low utilization (less than at app time) and several hundred thousand in avail credit....

personally, I think Slate is one of their hardest cards to get with a decent limit because they don't want to lose out on interest...

while I got the marriott card they used to own instantly for 25k with 700 FICO and six fig income instant approval. I had to recon a Slate and they'd only give me a 1000 limit so I just backed out.

if you neeed a BT with a higher limit, just find one of the regular mixed rewards 0% intro cards for15-18 months.

Consider the Citi Diamond Preferred OR even a BARCLAY'S card. Yes, a BARCLAY's card cause they're kinda easier to recon.

Slate is for some reason been a **bleep** for me to ever get approved with a decent limit (thinking 6,7,8,9-10k++)

not worth it.

Im currently getting quotes for a garage conversion so my plan was to apply for Chase IBC since im 4/24 and then the CFU as that last slot. Ill be back to 2/24 assuming no other applications by 7/2024. A collection just fell off of my EX and my CFF will be paid to under 9% once statement cuts. So Ive got a plan and been sticking to it, lets see if it all comes together lol
