X1 Card (now that the dust has settled)

Like many, I apped this card, was approve with a decent CL, but have never used it. At first, the means to enhanced cashback seemed a little too convoluted. Now, it appears to me that max cashback under most circumstances is something like 2.1% ... and 2% is obtainable elsewhere with very simple terms.

Is anybody using this for their daily spender (or "spender" of any other type")? Given the dearth of recent discussion, I feel like the card is populating a LOT OF sockdrawers.

Anyone wnat to share their current impressions? (particularly if you're actively using the card?)

I too was curious and applied [soft pull], was approved, and then got a pop-up saying, "Now, please give us access to your checking and savings accounts and we will tell you your SL, APR, and get your card right out to you!".

The X1 card is a decent card, but there are two things about this card that absolutely bother me:

1. X1 holds my payment for 5 to 7 days regardless of amount. The payment can be $35 or $1500. I've had the card since the beginning. I think they post instantly or at least in 2 business days.

2. X1 does not have a fraud number where you can actually call to speak to a live person. I had a potential fraud issue where somebody texted me from X1's number asking for my account info. I wound up having to email them, my account locked for a week while they investigated, and ultimately no fraudulent charges on my account. Luckily there has been no fraudulent with my SSN. I really like the idea of being able to call someone over potential fraud.

Other than those two concerns, I have no other issues with the card. I have never had a declined transaction or issue with making a large purchase.

Yeah, that was the whole point of this card...use your cashflow to possibly get a higher limit. It worked for me as at the time of approval it was my highest limit card by a good margin.

Having said that this isn't really meant to be a cashback card as you only get .7 CPP back. If you have at least a 3x multiplier then that comes out to 2.1% cash back but otherwise you shouldn't be taking straight cashback on this card. I use it for larger purchases when I can take advantage of the "X extra points for at least X amount spent" to keep it active but it's not my daily driver. No CLDs or anything on my end, it's just kind of "there". I carry it because it still has a really good limit for me and I like having options.

X1 was bought out by Robinhood so I would expect major changes to the card at some point.

My few of my cards do virtual numbers. I think capone, citi and x1. X1 is super easy and the free trial card fearure just works.

No cld, cli or etc. I have myfico and ooma recurring. Otherwise it's my go to only to buy something online and i don't have a cars hand.

I had sent email to them and they responded to me wanting to close it and they took care of it on their end. I no longer have one.

Now gotta try to destroy it.lol...
