New Visa Infinite Coming -Atlas Card

Just stumbled across this one. Another fintech card possibly coming out....but a $999 AF...ouch...if invited to apply after joining a waiting list.

So sort of interesting, as it is a "true" charge card with NPSL and balance due in full. The fee does include One Medical and Clear, with a claimed value of nearly $400 but I know at least Clear can be got cheaper. Also no mention of what the points can be redeemed for, and a single 3x category (highest spend) is pretty sparse.

Also, it mentions iOS and Apple Pay, so sounds like it is only for that system (and copying no numbers on the card and other features from the Apple card)

So, I've put myself on the waitlist 40 times already!

For some reason it reminds me of the X1 card meets the Barclays Gold Luxury Card. Hope it makes it to market and survives.

This card definitely seems tailored for Manhattan residents, but everything I have ever read or seen about Blade has been quite positive. From Manhattan to JFK, Blade can actually be cheaper than an Uber for a single rider (although of course costs much more than MTA) and significantly faster.

I thought the $600 credit toward airfare cancellation was a potentially good and unique feature, but the fine print states it's up to $100 per incidence.

Not something I could justify the annual fee on, and it really does seem like a mix of Apple Card and the Luxury Card.

I use blade for every flight, nothing beats the convenience and if you fly enough to justify the annual plan, it's ~30% cheaper than an Uber black from Manhattan to JFK

The owners have created a bougie vision for the card that probably they only share.

Dont forget the website is blatantly ripping off apples web design and trying its hardest to portray itself like the apple card. Issued by Lead Bank, who is run by the ex leader of Square capital/financial services, they bought an old community bank for the charter and are now FinTech'ing it. Offering Banking as a service for other firms. I give it 20% odds of lasting long term.

This card has been vaporware for years. Don't expect it to ever launch.

This card is from the execs that ran the failed PointCard. Originally this was going to be a PointCard credit card, until Point folded and they rushed this together.

I put the odds at 5%. The AF at $999 is a card killer for any normal person. The whole card is centered around NYC and business travel with Blade and the cancellation fee coverage. I think they will never launch or if they do they will never properly scale. They can copy a few things from the Goldman Sachs Apple card but that is not going to be enough to offset the compromised rewards structure.

Yes, like @K-in-Boston I was initially interested in the $600 cancellation fee coverage, but at $100 an incident it drops to the bottom of "nice to have" at best. If I have to cancel an expensive ticket, getting (after who knows how much hassle) $100 back isn't going to be much of a difference. Especially if I've paid $999 in AF!

The way I see it the cancellation fee coverage is for the actual fee and not for the price of the ticket. You have to be charged first or something and then they give you the $50, $75 or $100 back for the fee. The airline returns the main amount of the funds. Regardless it is a card of gimmicks not real value.

Yes, that could certainly be the case! So on a non-refundable ticket, where there is no fee as I cannot change, I might not get anything from the card....

That is the way I read it or very similar. On a non-refundable ticket you might still get hit with a cancellation fee and you could use this card to cover that which is questionable as it is. In the end you lose more than you gain. As I said the card is mostly gimmicks.
