What’s A Good Mastercard Travel Card

I need add a good Mastercard to my portfolio and want one that is travel rewards focused. Anyone have any recommendations? It can be airline or hotel specific is something I'm looking for. General is fine too.

Majority of my cards are Visa! 🤔 I know Citi loves them Mastercards

Don't travel so not a good member for real life examples/use of any card.

However I recently had cards changed over to BMO, they have a "Mastercard"

with rewards based around travel categories.

Can't hurt to take a look, might be a little low on rewards,

but no FTF, and on the network you want.

Another option would be the Luxury Card; I'm not personally a fan of their offerings, but they are MasterCard: https://www.luxurycard.com

Absolutely do your due diligence before considering applying for any of the cards in this family; BarclayUS is legit issuer albeit sometimes flaky but the the cards are routinely panned because the annual fees are viewed as being overpriced for the benefits each of the cards provides.

Right, I was, um, surprised to see them mentioned! The lowest AF card is worse in almost every way than a flat 2% no FTF free card. Oh, sorry, you get the magazine. In the past, we have had some active service members who didn't have to pay the fee, and then they are OK. Otherwise....

GreenState Credit Union World Mastercard. 5% CB, no AF. Pseudo geo fenced but easy to work around. I doubt for a MC, you'll find anything better.

Would this be by someone who knows little about travel cards or just likes CB? You can find a lot better.

It has a 3x multiplier for air-travel/dining/supermarkets rather than 2x for general-travel/dining, so for some it is better. The travel partners might be more complex to use as you may need to use partners for domestic flights. Like CSP's CFF/CFU, there are other cards (Citi DC, Custom Cash and Rewards+) that can be used to add to your set of points, and add to redemption value.

While they are not generally considered to be travel cards, you might want to consider the Capital One Savor and SavorOne Mastercard offerings. They have no foreign transaction fees, and they have rewards multipliers in the dining and entertainment categories. When I travel, a significant amount of spend goes towards dining and entertainment. Pair it up with a Venture or Venture X for transferrable points.

The Citi Premier is good.
