I ask because of course you can use the cash to pay future bills via debit card that earns cashback on credit card payments.

Having a credit balance on your Synchrony Amazon account will not initiate a check being sent to you. However, you can request a check via chat, customer service or a link that will appear under the balance information.

I'm pretty sure I got an automatic check on my Sync Lowe's card when I had a credit balance. I think it took a couple of months. I know other companies have done the same.

I think his point is that he doesn't want to apply the points as a statement credit at all until after he's paid off the (uncorrected) balance. He wants to pay off the card with a debit card that gets cash back, then get a check for the cash equivalent of the points that are redeemed in such a way as to bring his balance negative (overall credit to his account).

This can be done (not with the Amazon cards) but it seems extremely cumbersome unless you're spending a ton of money each month.

I (sort of) do this with my Avant 2% cash back card (it automatically knocks 2% off the statement) and my credit union's 1% back debit card to give me essentially 3% cash back on anything. I use the Avant card then, right before the statement cuts, I pay it with a debit card (which only Avant and Aspire allow, AFAIK) which gives me 1% back, then let the 2% cash back hit and credit my account. However, I don't ask for a check, I just continue using the card. Future purchases still get 2% back even though they're using the account credit. Asking for a ~$50 check each month would not be worth it for me.

Just wanted to add my thoughts again. I have $34.12 in Capital One Reward points so they allow checks to be sent for that amount but it can take up to 6 weeks to receive. And since creditors like Capital One and Chase don't take debit card or even PayPal bill payments it'd be kinda pointless to request a check, unless of course the balance is so low and I'm not planning to use the card for a while. To me then it would make the most sense to just use the rewards as a direct statement credit as the bill can only be paid via bank account pretty much anyways.

I just did this exact thing with my Synchrony Amazon card last week.

When you have a credit amount, you have to wait about a month and then there will be a message when you look at your account, describing what your options are, and you can start a chat or call them and have them send a check which takes about a week to receive.

I don't know for sure, but once your account shows a negative balance, you may be able to call them and ask instead of waiting.

In my case, I had a significant cashback balance saved up, and I'm using a different card for Amazon right now, so didn't want to let it sit any longer, otherwise I would've just used it to pay the balance(s).

when was the last time you reuested a check!!??? I request one every month for my cashback rewards and it takes about 1-2 weeks to get here. I do this because Cashback is non taxeable income and I can put it into the S&P500(VOO) and watch it grow. I did the math and because of compound interest my account with be about 400k by the times I retire assuming about $100/month in cashback/SUB/Offers
