Considering those are rumors but should I get the card now or wait ??

In the last month, I ordered food via Grubhub three times and each time, my food got tampered by drivers (they ate also some parts of the food ). Grubhub refunded the first two orders but denied the last one. It is strange that the driver that tampered food in the second delivery, did the same tampering in the third delivery. Anyway, I am done with Grubhub and any other food delivery services. It is a waste of time.

Hopefully, the Gold biz card covers also Staples/Office Depot. Otherwise, I was going to cancel the card because of its hard to use "small monthly benefits".

A staple of AmEx cards is high annual fees for cards with a questionable benefits and rewards structure.

Outside of the Blue Cash Preferred they don't really have competitive cards for normal people. They haven't been very innovative. Membership Rewards are basically set up to be much more confusing than cash, and at best have cash-like value if you use them for something that's not terribly practical.

Was considering "downgrading" to Gold in the future again, after the switch to the Ritz for P2 happens. Do not want to deal with that version of the coupon book.

And the coupon book keeps getting bigger along with the AF. I can't believe people are still willing to pay these AF's as have to be close to breaking point on people with these cards at some point where they have just got too greedy.

I'm kind of confused, is it losing grocery category altogether?

Is their new version a x4 restaurant card with a $325 annual fee?

The credits used to be an afterthought kind of thing, get a small credit to help offset normal spend. This is egregious and the whole value of the card is wrapped up in them.

If this card really is losing grocery category I think they'll see an exodus. A lot of families only really have the card for that and that fee is high enough to make people reconsider.

I guess, their business model is shifted to target teenagers that eat unhealthy foods several times each month , with limited or no cashback experience. By providing a very large SUB offer, they attract such new customers and they may keep the card for a few years, before realizing the impact on their health and their pocket.

A few days ago, I received a 250k SUB offer from Amex to apply for Platinum. Definitely, the card is good to keep for a year while I do prefer to keep the cards that do not push me to spend on specific categories that I do not spend organically. I may go for it, if I project several flights per year.

I'm teetering on the breaking point with them. The AF cards from them i have started at the max i was willing to dole out when I was running all my spend across them during our reunion with amex and rebuild. The rumors of increased AF's across the charge cards has me seriously considering dropping all the charge cards or maybe the green and gold and keep the plat and PC'ing my Amex Everyday Preferred to the no annual fee version.

Had this card years ago, MR points were confusing to me and I closed it before AF hit first year. TPG Values the points at $.02 if you transferred to partners, which makes it 8% back on restaurants if you make that valuation. Which is insane, and caused me to reconsider opening a new account.

I wish they had more useful credits. Like $10 back at a Café every month. Not at a grease burger joint full of seed oils and heart attacks.

Imagine spending 50K in restaurants in a year. 😳

Totally agree with this, I have left the MR ecosystem when I was charged MONEY to transfer MR points to Delta....I will just use the Delta Card....what is so great about points that you have to PAY to transfer to Airlines?? Also "resy" is a total waste for me as there is nothing near me...the dunkin is OK but $7.00????? Not 10 not 15 but 7.....WOW a whole large iced latte a month STOP!!!!! Amex core cards are getting ridiculous....no or very little value today, sadly I feel.....

This doesn’t move the needle for me. I may leverage this to try to get a retention bonus, but I have no intention of getting rid of it.

Due to adding too many credits to eat unhealthy foods in each month, in the retenion bonus discussions, you may bring up the doctor fees that you may need to address in upcoming future and hopefully, they would extend a very good retention offer . For my biz Gold card, I may bring it up in the upcoming retention offer discussions, and I will mention that the delivery guys from Grubhub ate my food and it is becoming more and more challenging to use these small monthly benefits while the AF is also striking.

If these unhealthy small monthly credits continue, possibly Amex would issue another card with MR points to cover doctor expenses. It is too bad that in north america, the quality of food sucks (in comparison to Europe) while on top of it, the credit card companies also push the customers to eat more and more unhealthy foods and afterward, they need to visit the doctors with awful and expensive health insurance policies.

Five Guys is weird because it's overpriced for a burger place and they're back there burning the hell out of your burger and it's really expensive, like to the point where you could have gone somewhere that's not a fast food place, but they have a following.

Even with additional offers on our dining cards we don't go there.

There's still the Blue Cash cards for groceries. I can do a hell of a lot of damage at the grocery store to overcome $95 so as long as they don't nerf the BCP or raise the fee on me I won't downgrade that one.

I've looked over AmEx because after you're in good with them on one account it's easy to get another, but after seeing the other cards I'm not impressed.

If they just raised the fee on gold and nerfed the perks, it makes me wonder what else is coming to the others.

With cooking at home you can make whatever you want, it's just that people have lost their ability to think on their feet or even budget.

During the lockdown they were basically framing it as people will starve without Taco Bell and McDonald's and I was like get a chicken and season it and throw it in the pot.
