Best Chase no fee credit card?

Have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, had good signup bonus at the time but no longer worth the $95 anual fee. Looking to convert to a fee card.

I know Freedom Unlimited gets 1.5% on every purchase, but it's useless for me since I get a better 2% with Citi Double Cash card and 4% on dining with my savour card.

I am thinking of the Freedom Flex, it's less common, gets 1% on every purchase, but has quarteryly categories that get 5%. None of my cards get 5%. Bank of America gets 3% on online shopping, AX gets 3% on gas and groceries.

Not sure what you mean by Freedom Flex being less common, it's a very popular card here! But it sounds like it's a good choice for you given your other cards. Did you use your CSP to transfer points to partners (which is the major value). The Freedom Unlimited works best paired with something like the CSP, as the 1.5 points can be worth much more than 1.5% But since you plan to convert the CSP, that's not relevant

One could argue the Amazon Prime card isn't truly "no fee" since you have to pay for Prime to get max rewards. I know a lot of people pay for it anyway, but I don't.

So I would say the Freedom Flex would be my personal choice if I wasn't going to keep the CSP for transfer partners and had to pick one.

@cjesser15 I suppose thats fair. Didn't think of it as a card fee since its not actually charged by Chase. $8.15 (student) fee is definitely worth it for me.

OP if you don't frequently shop Amazon then probably not for you.

I believe you can PC the Sapphire cards to the Freedom cards as well since both fall under UR family. Several people I know PC their CSP/CSR to an OG Freedom (since Freedom Flex is Mastercard and not Visa) every 48 months so they can get a new Sapphire bonus. As a side perk, they also get an additional $1500 worth of 5% categories for the quarter.

Yes, I PCd my CSR to an OG Freedom (just didn't need it so I didn't get another for the SUB, maybe at some point since 48 months is long gone)

When you make a purchase at amazon with the Chase Prime card, you'll earn 5% CB on all purchases. At checkout, if you are willing to forgo the 1 or 2-day shipping, but instead select the 'No rush' shipping, they oftentimes will offer you an extra 1% cash back for a total of 6% CB. They used to primarily offer free amazon 'digital dollars' for No rush shipping where you could use them to buy digital content such as e-books, apps, music, or streaming.

The No Rush orders always still arrive quick enough for me, it adds maybe 3-4 extra days at the most.

@ptatohed Thank you so much! Super helpful. Rush shipping isn't an issue. Prefer to try and fail with Chase vs accepting a store card preapproval with Synchrony.

For me it's almost always 6% if I add something to my upcoming Amazon Day order, very rarely further out than that.

For most consumers today, assuming they shop online and at Amazon frequently, I agree that the Amazon Prime card is probably the "best" no-AF Chase card.

The Freedom Flex is also a very good choice for most consumers, but especially if they don't shop as much at Amazon.

However, if someone travels even occasionally, Chase has some awesome travel credit cards. I'm not talking about just the Sapphire Preferred and Reserve. They have a lot of airline and hotel travel cards that offer a lot of perks which can make them very lucrative to the right consumer. Which one would depend on your own travel patterns and frequency.

I think I'll go with the freedom flex. Maybe if the 5% bonsus is gas or paypal I could probably get some use out of it.

Prime card sounds nice but I don't have prime any more. Kind of glad, I just ended up buying useless junk. I still shop on Amazon without prime, maybe $200/year, but it's mostly sub and save things like soaps and quinoa and what not. Not worth the card for that.

I have venture x and AX platinum, and usually they fund the trips.
