15% extra CB at walmart.com with Cap1 Shopping

So, the first order of any given month, ordering groceries at walmart.com using WM+ delivery, is done using the SYW app to get the SYW Mission Points (I can still check out with my C1 Walmart card for 5% (good until early/mid Oct before she becomes a 1.5% QS card, boo)). Subsequent orders in the month are through the Cap1 shopping portal for usually an extra 5% back. I went to do another WM+ September grocery order tonight using the C1 portal and I noticed walmart.com is 15%!!! Score! I've never seen it higher than 5%.

I really don't want my C1 Walmart 5% card to turn into a 1.5% QS card but, when she does, I am praying to Buddha that the C1 shopping portal continues to offer these 5% - 15% walmart.com offers so that I'll never get less than 6.5% CB (and, surprisingly, maybe 16.5%) at walmart.com. We'll see......

You might want to check the restrictions. I don't think it a blanket discount on your entire order.

And with those exclusions I wonder what "Everything Else" could be. (Spandex?)

Very good point - check out some of these terms (my emphasis added in spots for categories we use often):

To earn the rebate you must make an eligible purchase at walmart.com. Not eligible for purchase of automotive tires, Apple Products, Beats Products, gift cards, groceries/food (excluding select coffee and tea products), personal care, pharmacy, precious metals, photo, household essentials, and baby consumables. Not eligible for orders deemed by Walmart to be used for reselling purposes. To earn the rebate, you must be a Capital One cardholder or bank account holder, and logged in to your account on capitalone.com or the Capital One Mobile app.

I use the Rakuten browser extension and always make sure it is on before placing a Walmart order, and have seen $150+ orders only earning two bonus points.

I checked out Rakuten's terms and noticed that the same common categories are excluded there as well (again with my emphasis added in spots):

Exclusions: Cash Back is not available on Apple products, Beats products, Bikes, Health/Personal Care, Household Essentials, Diapers, Gift cards, Groceries, Orders deemed by Walmart to be for reselling purposes, Pharmacy, Precious Metals, Tires, Video Game Consoles, Video Game Hardware, Walmart Business orders or Walmart+ Memberships.
Cash Back is only available on Arts, Crafts, Cricut & Sewing, Automotive, Baby & Kids Apparel, Baby Gear & Nursery(excludes food), Beauty, Books & Magazines, Electronics, Furniture, Hardware & Tools, Home, Jewelry, Shoes & Accessories, Kitchen & Dining, Office Supplies, Patio & Garden, Party & Celebration, PetRX first-time purchases over $35, Pet Supplies, Shoes, Sports & Fitness, Toys, Media & Gaming, Women's & Men's Apparel.

With all that said, Walmart via Rakuten usually offers 2X points, and I checked my points activity within Rakuten and many orders did indeed earn 2X, or close to 2X. Some orders earned 1X but it is entirely possible that the bonus was only 1X at the time, especially since they're within the same time range.

So maybe there's hope with these Capital One offers! I'd be curious to know if @ptatohed has been actually receiving 5% (and now 15%) on some of the categories excluded above - with Rakuten it seems like I sometimes get almost nothing (like two points), but often get the full amount even though the majority of purchases fall into excluded categories. I have been minimalist/lazy with shopping portal bonuses, usually just enable Rakuten and call it a day, but if Capital One's 15% is forgiving, we have a lot of Walmart spend that we'd be more than happy to divert.

Thanks all. Crud, I guess I was trusting them when they said 'everything else'. I didn't see that exclusion on groceries. I'll have to monitor this purchase (and past purchases) to see what % back I have actually been getting.

Dang I just bought a laptop from Walmart from a 3rd party, cheaper than ebay for the first time lol. But anyway, I went thru chase portal and got 1%, maybe I should check COS more... but idk they take forever to post. Chase let's me know that I shopped and when I will get the points, usually next statement it's so fast. I used rakuten before, it's a hit and miss.

If you're looking for a portal for Walmart, check out Retailmenot.

I make semi-regular walmart.com purchases from the personal health/grocery category, and so far Retailmenot has always tracked and paid out as advertised. For WM it's been as high as 10% before, but usually is either 5% or 3% (3% right now).
