I know Citi takes the cake on this especially within 8 days. And AMEX seems to have the reputation of being least sensitive?

How would you rank in order from most sensitive to lease sensitive to recent inquiries. They would see a 1/12 within last couple days.

BofA

Wells

AMEX

Chase

Capital

US Bank and Citi are the most sensitive, almost regardless of profile... everyone else is going to really depend on the profile, history, thickness etc... For really thin, or troubled profiles any lender can use number of inquiries as a reason for a denial.

Hard to rank them without knowing anything more about your profile.

In my experience it is Citi. I applied for the double cash one day after having an inquiry which was my first inquiry in a couple years. I was denied solely due to the inquiry from the previous day despite having an over 800 credit score with no derogatory stuff on my report.

Citi needs a clean sheet in the past 6 months, even having Fico8 of 800+ . It sounds illogical, but it is the case

US Bank typically has a manual UW department (it was the case for all my CC applications). If having a prior relationship (checking), it might help to improve the acceptance chance, despite having inquiries.

I'm of the opinion that they committed disorderly conduct as a business offense in regards to contacting me so often and in such an unreasonable manner that it was basically creditor harassment under the Illinois Compiled Statutes (which can include contacting a debtor in a way where a reasonable person would feel annoyed, harassed, or intimidated. So basically, I was annoyed at being called dozens of times every day with there being no expectation that I would answer and with their intention likely being just to make my phone ring.), and for 6 months after I filed my bankruptcy, they kept reporting late payments to the credit bureaus. I could have reopened the bankruptcy, but I decided to just report it to the bureaus and the bureaus took over and deleted the entire negative payment history (including the ones that occurred before the bankruptcy).

I don't know if Citi acted maliciously or incompetently in doing this, but according to the law, there's not much difference either way. You're not allowed to continue pursuing a bankrupt debtor, and that includes continuing to trash their credit report with fresh lates, after a bankruptcy filing.

I think by the time you get to about 3 or more inquiries within the prior year or 2 then you should probably slow down and/or turn your life around. And if you are concerned about this, you should stop shopping around so much and be more decisive.

As was a proper decision to begin with in my opinion, more card companies are allowing users to do a "no ding decline" when shopping around for credit cards and other loans.

@MrDisco99 wrote:

Apple/GS rejecting my application because of too many recent inquiries. I have 6 inquiries on my TU report, most of them in the last 6 months from Chase Ink card signups. I am a bit surprised that's enough to set them off as that product has a reputation for being easy to get, but it sounds like they are tightening up underwriting.

People who charge a lot of unnecessary "lifestyle products" are not the most reliable consumer about paying bills.

If they're broke and can't pay cash for some earbuds and a phone, will there be cash later, or do they realize that food and rent cost money too and so does gasoline?

This is what consumerism does to people. It advertises things people have no money to buy and then also advertise a special credit card. Then they really can't figure out why people who think like this don't pay and the bank loses money on a freaking credit card.

Probably the only thing comparable is how a casino in Atlantic City went bankrupt.
