Capital One Platinum -> Quicksilver One PC

This card started as a secured Platinum 11+ years ago. It was graduated to unsecured in 2020, and earlier this year it got a $100 CLI. Today I tried the PC link and got an upgrade offer to QS One. Still has a $29 AF, but I'm hoping this is a sign that maybe one day I can upgrade to a no AF QS. It's my oldest revolving account so I'm trying to keep it alive just for fun / part of the hobby; I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme. People have said that maxing and paying off a bucketed card can help increase the limit, now that it actually earns cash back I might try doing that for a few months to see what happens.

Congrats but, with all the other cards you have, I, personally, would let it go.

I am in a very similar situation - a Cap1 QS1 that was PC from a platinum, currently still with an AF and bucketed stupid low limit. However, it is my oldest card at 18+ years and I still hang on to it for age. I really should close it, but I haven't. I consider that AF a "young and stupid tax" as a reminder not to repeat old ways, I suppose. I like seeing the age count on my oldest get even higher for some reason too.

Exactly! I know it doesn't matter practically because I have such a thick and aged file, but for some reason I like keeping it as a talisman to remind me to stay grateful!

That's werid that you only got the QS with AF? I had Plat than did a PC to QS.....Did a PC to Venture and now I am back at QS since it offers 1.5% cashback ....I did have options for the AF cards but would never have done that as it wasnt worth it..

Yep QS One with "fee stays the same" was the only option.
