PCd My Quicksilver (visa) from 2002 to Venture X

I transfered credit limit from my other CapitalOne cards to raise the limit on my Quicksilver (visa) to 10k and then product changed it to a VentureX last night. I'm esctatic.

They do not (PC does not require any credit inquiry, soft or hard). 2 points to keep in mind. #1 My experience is only a visa can be PCd to a VentureX. My Quicksliver was opened in 2002 and it was a Visa Platinum, that I product changed to the Visa Quicksilver. Capital One use to issue several of their cards as both a Visa or a MC. Curious why you didn't just apply for a Venture X to get the SUB?

I don't have any experience with the Cap 1 travel portal or their mile redemptions. Are they competitive with Amex MR and Chase UR?

Great questions! CapitalOne is not predictable in their approvals. Folks with many credit lines usually have a very hard time getting approved for the VentureX or other CapitalOne cards with the bonus offer. There are many data points that they do not allow users to have more than 2 cards as well.

The travel partners are not as good as Chase or AMEX, they are good tho, if you know how to leverage Airline Alliance booking options. For example you can book award flights for United using AirCanada, Avianca Lifemiles, or Turkish Miles and Smiles. There is a learning curve and it takes time to learn.

Interesting and thanks for the additional data on that. I always show pre-approved for the X but I don't need another S tier travel card at the moment unless their portal is just better than Amex/Chase.

I'm pretty familiar with the airline alliance game and that's good to know. Congrats again!

Congrats on your new Venture X! Did you recently transfer the credit limit? I been trying to find the button to do so.

Yeah I moved credit limit about a week or two before the product change. On the website, click on the "I want to" button and it should be in there. Its up to CapitalOne if and how much you can move from card to card.

My wife's account don't have that option available. Probably her account is not eligible. Thanks for the info.

My Quicksilver One MasterCard was a regular Quicksilver One, then after ten years, Capital One decided to give me World Elite status on the credit card account. The limit has and still is $2,500, and the account has been open for 12 years! This card as well as a Visions FCU Platinum ($2,000 limit) I opened over two years ago allowed me to open a regular CareCredit card ($2,500 limit) slightly over two years ago and a Sleep Number card ($4,000 limit) six months ago. I do see and want to wait maybe at the end of this year to do an application to upgrade my CareCredit card. I have two Equal Payment No Interest (EPNI) promos on the Sleep Number card. The minimum payment is split on the two promos, and I have two and 1/2 years left on the much larger promo and less than two years on the small promo. Synchrony does make EPNI promos for Sleep Number available on certain days a year. Labor Day is one of those days.

They did the same to my VentureOne. It was never at 5k limit. My guess is that a WEMC can charge slightly more to the merchant than a vanilla MC. I'm not sure about everything else you commented.

I dispute this lol. In my opinion, I think the best sounding and heaviest metal card when dropped was the original Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite card. The ones issued around 2016-2018

Congrats on the upgrade!

A situation such as this is the only reason I'm still keeping my old QS Visa around... I'm not holding my breath, but I'm also leaving the door open to future possibilities.

I know first-hand how old cards can find new life again; I have a Mastercard that started off years ago as an HSBC/Orchard Bank Platinum Mastercard that has morphed into a grandfathered/no AF Savor card.

Edited to add: I also know that realistically I'm not likely to qualify for a new Capital One account any time soon due to the number of open accounts I have, so doing a PC of an existing account will be my best chance of obtaining any future offerings.

I agree. I now have a VentureOne that began as a Secured Platinum MC SL 500 with 200 deposit. (will keep around for future pc to future new cards and oldest account so will stay open for credit score) opened 1999

And, a VX that started off as a Platinum Visa SL 500. (crazy) opened 2002

And, a Savor that started off as a Synchrony Walmart MC SL 2k. (will also keep around for future new cards) opened 2012

And, a Slate Edge card from Chase that is now a OG Freedom SL 1k. (10k now) opened 2005

These were some of my very first credit card accounts so I feel fortunate that they became something very useful. For the new to credit cards, the early cards can become something sometimes and those very old accounts are a big part of 800+ credit scores.
