Bummer. I hope not. It was on my 2025 list, but it's going to be several more months before I'm ready.

Would be bummed if they kill it. Not nearly as bummed as some people will be if USB kills Smartly, though.

That is concerning. However, my hope is that since the "source" in that thread was from a Citi employee (and we know how...great...CS at Citi is), it may not be accurate.

Yeah, good point. If it turns out to he wrong, I'm still grateful to that CSR since they got me to take a risk applying quickly (which paid off). Lol

They tried to disguise the voice, but it was obviously the voice of another reasonably popular youtuber, who is not affiliated with Citi. So there's some fake "Citi insiders" out there spreading BS.

I love my R+. Just today, I had a free $6.XX chicken sandwich with $1 spend at BK (from playing the daily game in the app). I got the free chicken sandwich, spent $1 for a taco, and grabbed a free 2x cheeseburger with my (450) points ('crowns') (which were due to expire anyway this month), so I got over $10 in food for the fam for $1 and I used R+ at checkout for the 10c roundup (10% CB). It's not the greatest Citi card, but the 10% bonus on TYP redemptions makes it worthwhile for me... my Double Cash card becomes a 2.22% card (edging out WF Active Cash and NFCU cashRewards) and my two Custom Cash cards become 5.55%.

I've also benefited from having another card to use for Citi Merchant Offers, but to be fair those are available even if the Rewards+ were to be changed (by me or Citi) to another card type. There's also an argument to be made for microtransactions (e.g. vending machines, etc.) due to the 10 TYP round-up but that's not a big deal to me.

If the rumor is true I won't be heartbroken by any means, but I'm quite OK with having the card around in it's current form.

Just my 2¢.

The Rewards+ is a niche card. Maybe for you it is "crap" since it doesn't fit in your portfolio, but for some people it certainly is not.

Makes as much sense as someone who doesn't travel calling Amex MR cards crap.

With most of my categories covered, CFF and the R+ are the only cards left on my bucket list. And both are scheduled apps in Aug of this year.

$1500 spend in 3 months = $200 sub
$15 opportunity cost on that $1500 as 1% catch-all rather than 2%
First year Int% from HYS on the $1500 on the 0% promo, even with the min payments, more than washes out that $15
10% round up in the first year on the "other the TYPs earned from currently held Citi Cards"
PC to extra Custom Cash at 1 year
App for R+ in future after Sub timer expires and repeat.

"TL;DR" The Rewards+ adds value to currently held TYP earning cards, and is a lucrative path to having 2+ Custom Cash cards.

It was a crap comment not even worth a reply, some people just can't help themselves. For those of us who "know" it is a great card and serves a useful purpose.
