I was looking around doctor of credit and I found this interesting

Changes:
- $795 annual fee ($245 increase)
- 10x Chase Travel hotel and cars reduced to 8x
- 5x Chase Travel flights increased to 8x
- 3x Direct flights and hotel increased to 4x
- 3x Other travel reduced to 1x
New benefits:
- $500 Edit Credit via $250/semi-annual (hotel portal run by Chase for select hotels.
- $300 Dining credit via Sapphire Reserve Tables $250/semi-annual
- $300 StubHub credit via $150/semi-annual

Honestly I was trying to math this out... then I noticed that you will only get 1x for non-Hotel/Airline travel purchases. Welp, that kills it imo. I liked that the Sapphire (both levels) was a solid generic Travel card. That's dead if these are accurate.

Tail wagging the dog, CC is influencing how/where/when you spend.

I thought Amex Plat was bad, but this is some next level stuff.

Precisely.
Remember, they are banks and you are the product. They have to figure out how best to get the most amount of money out of you with the least effort.
they make money on you spending - and when you cannot afford it.
Like the AmEx Platinum I couldn't justify it at all because I don't get most of the credits organically, Saks never been there, dining and entertainment credits I don't use. Etc etc.

200,000 points is worthless to me because in year 2 and year 3 I'll have to be focusing on getting ridiculous credits.

if you get any of these cards and have to think about going out on day 28 of the month because "oh my credit is going to expire I have to make sure I get it," you are loosing the game.

I hope this doesn't happen.
I was intending on PC To the Reserve in 11 months.

Now I'm worried about the Preferred being nuked.

Me too! If they turn that into the "foodie card" using the amex template (because notice no extra points for food anymore on Reserve 2.0) it kills that as a travel card.....credits for doordash, dunkin and jack in the box but only $7.99 monthly......ugggghhhhhhhhhh

Those credits are even worse than the ones on Platnum, imo, which is impressive in a sad sort of way.

I really hope this trend doesn't continue and end up hitting the VX. I love that card but if they try this garbage it's gone. The travel portal thing alone is about the limit of what I consider reasonable.

Hopefully this remains a rumor but if it does come to fruition I'll be PC'ing to a non AF card and sticking with Amex for my premium travel card. The travel multiplier is hugely beneficial to me, and I was already on the fence about justifying the AF.

Sadly I think it's a matter of when, not if.
if Amex is doing it and absolutely loving it, chase adopting it as well, capital one, only a matter of time.
which for me, I'm not going to even bother applying for it.

Interesting and disappointing but it is what it is. I remember they were losing money on the CSR for quite a while due to the lucrative SUB and like you said they more than likely analyzed the Amex Platinum business model and decided to cull their cardholder base.

Pretty annoying list of credits IMO. I find some of the credits included with personal amex plat and gold annoying as well, though. The biz plat credits I can put up with, but wish they'd ditch Indeed and Adobe as I never find a use for them. Should replace them with a ChatGPT credit since the premium version of that has replaced both employees and file editing for me!

Dude if they were to do that, I would be excited for them. I'm not sure why they'd limit it to one however. AI credit would be amazing! ChatGPT, Anthropic Ai, Grok, or Perplexity (any I don't mention) Ai photo editing software.

This would be incredible, and the fact they haven't thought of that is a shame. I have found Ai to be incredibly powerful and useful.

That would totally kill the card for me. I could expect about $60 in lyft credits per year with my organic spend. Maybe door dash once a year. Any other credit wouldnt be organic spend.
