Nibbles Credit card - for pets (any takers yet?)

I have been getting ads to look into the "Nibbles" Credit Card for pets. Does anyone have any feedback or insight on this card since its release, December 2024?

Highlights - include pet insurance for one pet...can add additional pets for a fee, 3% rewards on various pet spends, and can add additional coverages (exams, prescriptions, etc.), with additional benefits planned down the road.

Our dog Buster just got his - no experience yet, but he is trying to raise his FIDO score. Sort of hope we don't need to test the insurance. We'll see if they offer the suggested special deals on pet supplies as well, but just use it for vet visits. It's offered by Lead Bank (a heavy hitter)

I'm kind of soured on changing the insurance again for my cats since a previous provider, Nationwide, decided not to renew my policies, ensuring that pre-existing conditions would forever be uncovered by any replacement provider (which ended up being Pumpkin BTW).

As you can see from my sig, I also get 5% back on pet food and prescription food (capped at $5k/year) from, um, a bank.

It's easier to swallow my pride when I get $250 in rewards back each year.

Much like some members here who are trepidatious of the AAA Visa cards because they heard they should avoid Comenity — it's not a bad card; no AF, grace period, and I PIF so don't care about the APR. I've been on the lookout for any funny stuff with rewards not posting etc. but it works as advertised. Finally, in addition to the 5% back I get, another 1% is sent to legitimate no-kill shelter network Best Friends, effectively making a $50/year donation.

I ran into this a few months ago when I was looking into what other unusual cards are the new kids on the block. Unfortunately my furbaby kitty turned 16 in April, so I don't think they'd approved her based on age alone.

This looks pretty good on the insurance side for those getting a new pet (i.e. no known pre-existing conditions). The basic insurance seems decent, especially for free. But even apart from that, the wide range of 3% for pet services on a no AF card is impressive, I wonder the long-term viability, as it's not that hard to get large vet bills!

BTW

Looking at the detailed policy I found under pre-existing conditions:

The annual aggregate limit is capped at a lifetime maximum of $10,000

which seems a strange mix of annual and lifetime!

I respect that. Sometimes we have to swallow our pride for our fur babies. It actually does sound like a really good card.

Since this thread is about credit cards for pet needs, I'll note that Citi's forced PC from their cancelled Rewards+ card to their new non-premier Strata card will mean that that card's holders will gain a new choice to get 3% back at pet stores. (According to my email from Citi, this transition is happening today.)

Just saw it now on DoC. Tried the pre-qualify to see if I would get pre-approved and if one of my pets would be accepted. Yes to both, pre-approved for up to $5000. Didn't go for it - wanted to come back here to see if there was any chatter about it

Strongly considering this. Thinking I may go on an app spree tomorrow by applying for a HELOC, then the WF One Key+ (mainly for the primary auto rental coverage), then this niche little thing. I spend about $30 per month on cat insurance. I get people's concerns such as what if your vet bill is more than your credit limit or what if Nibbles goes down the drain since they apparently just established themselves last December. All valid concerns but if there's something I learned about insurance in general is that, regardless of how established the company, your rates can skyrocket (or you can be dropped) if you're deemed too high of a risk.

So, all in all, what the heck, I may give it a shot lol.

Lead Bank? My Best Friends Visa is issued by Credit One.
