Does anyone have experience with the WF superchecks 0% Apr. family member has a high balance on the card. They would like to pay off the balance from savings and use a super check to pay themselves back to them get the 0%. I don't see any terms in the material where that would be an issue. I'm just wondering would they lower the credit limit if it gets paid off.

This is a bit confusing. Is the card account associated with the super checks new, and on a 0% introductory offer?

By paying one's self it could be construed as a cash advance and not a balance transfer, so I'd recommend you read their clause on cash advances being they're generally excluded from 0% offers. In addition the amount you can take on a CA are usually restricted as well and they can also be seen as a red flag with some lenders.

Sorry for the confusion. It is an old account. The "superchecks 0% offer" said they can be used for anything. For example, cc has a 5k balance. Pay off the 5k with savings and pay yourself back the 5k with the supercheck offer that's 0%.

I don’t have a relationship with WF myself, but from what I’ve seen with similar offers, your plan could work as long as the terms don’t specifically prohibit it. Paying the balance from savings first, then using the supercheck to get the 0% rate, makes sense in theory. The only thing to watch out for is that any issuer; WF included; could lower a credit limit after a large payoff, even if the account is in good standing. It’s not guaranteed they will, but it’s a possibility worth considering. I’d recommend confirming directly with WF before moving forward.
