Mission lane made a move to join the 3% cb club.

Details:

Under the Program, you will earn Cash Back on Net Qualifying Purchases made using your Account. We reserve the right to determine, from time to time and in our sole discretion, whether a particular transaction is a Qualifying Purchase. You will earn:

3% Cash Back on Promotional Qualifying Purchases made in the spend category with the highest total Net Qualifying Purchases within a given calendar month.
2% Cash Back on Promotional Qualifying Purchases made in the spend category with the second-highest total Net Qualifying Purchases within the same calendar month.
1% Cash Back on all other Net Qualifying Purchases.

I have the No AF 1.5% cb on everything version.

I mean, I have 5%ers already for dining and gas, but a flat 3%er for travel is interesting.

Added note: Looks like their travel category mcc covers campgrounds/rv parks. This could be a winner for full time RVers and snowbirds.

And no max spend caps. Looks like its unlimited 3% top category

Does sound good. O wonder what kind of co you can expect from mission lane. What did you get on your existing card? Do you plan to try to pc it?

I just got the aven visa card, 3% on everything to $10000, sounds good, waiting for the downside.

My no AF 1.5% cb everything is at $2500, but i only have a $5 monthly subscription on it, so doubt it will grow with that spend.

Not sure how high a Mission Lane will grow with better spend. They advertise up to a $3k SL on the older card versions.

This new one may tap into higher SLs. Not sure.

I don't recall ever having an issue in the last 3.5 years having one of their cards.

Not sure if they PC either. I suppose I should check. That might work better than a fresh app, if they do, with no HP.

Ya, they have been good to me too.

The only thing I don't like is the 34.9% interest, but then, I pif on that card, so it doesn't affect me.

Yeah, it's not even a 3% everything card, had hope also. Just category of highest spend, like a custom cash. People with the kind of spend that runs out of cap on better cards, maybe. Not this Fico'er. Lot's of 5% category cards beat this. Get a 3% everything card, there are 3 available, all no FTF for travel. AOD (1.5k cap per month), Aven (10k cap annual, afterwards unlimited 2%), Robinhood Gold (waiting list, has a mandatory subscription), no cap, this would be the one for big spenders.

I would be interested in obtaining it. I wonder if you can pre qualify for this card? I may give it a try and see if they offer it to me. Thanks for sharing this info. if anyone gets this card plz post how you went about obtaining it.

Update...Tried to pre qualify on their website and they offered me the no annual fee silver line with 1.5% and a 29.99 rate. I will decline for now and wait and see if there's a way to get the 3 percent card instead.

Thanks for the update. I've had the silver line no AF version a few years, from before they called it that.

In a few months I may check pre-qualification for the gold line version for the 3% uncapped travel category. Specifically for campgrounds and rv parks.

Most travel cards don't cover campgrounds and rv parks. The ones that do are for points or only 2%. So, a dedicated UnCapped 3%er CashBack for that is perfect for one of my unique travel card decks.

It's a 3, 2 ,1 card.

3% in top spend

2% in secondary spend

1% in all other spend

The predefined spend categories that consist of certain MCC codes used to determine Cash Back rates are:

Amazon, Bookstores & Online Variety Stores: Includes most purchases on Amazon.com, including items sold directly by Amazon and many third-party sellers. We calculate your Cash Back by:

Identifying the MCC spend category with the highest total Net Qualifying Purchases posted to the Account during that calendar month and multiplying the dollar amount of those Net Qualifying Purchases by 3%, plus
Identifying the MCC spend category with the second-highest total Net Qualifying Purchases posted to the Account during that calendar month and multiplying the dollar amount of those purchases by 2%, plus
Multiplying the dollar amount of all other Net Qualifying Purchases by 1%.

Not that this is a groundbreaking card or anything, but it does seem like maybe Mission Lane is trying to move up a bit from where they typically sit in the sub prime rebuilding group? Usually I think of them as products for rebuilders, but a step above the Credit One and other fee harversters since they have lower AF and some no AF offerings.

Seems like this could be one of the better rebuilding cb cards. BofA's secured CCR with the bonus 3% first year is better. US banks secured alt go could possibly be better. The 3x and 2x categories elevate it over C1's Quicksilver and spend over $2500 a quarter outperforms discovers 5% categories.

Personally, think the new mission lane gold and silver lines are better than the secured options you mentioned for rebuilding. Especially with no AF or deposit needed.

Mission Lane has been a great rebuilder for me. I got a mailer from them when I was still only able to get one other card. They offered the TAB card with no AF and 1% CB on everything, with a 2k SL. In 5 months they raised it to 3,000 and then after 3 more months to 4,000. At that point in my rebuild I was thrilled. Never had any problems with them at all. I don't need the card any more, but I've kept it alive just because they were good to me, and I like that they're good to those in the subprime market.

I'm in the garden and don't want to do a new app, but if anyone finds out if they'll PC, please share.

Only company I know that punishes those for closing an account years ago and says nope new account since you had one before. Would've been nice to get back in with Mission Lane.
