You can't product change the IHG or the United card over to a card in a different family so if they no longer serve a useful purpose you might as well just transfer their limits over to the Freedom Flex and close them. There shouldn't be any negative impact to your scoring.

Expect that you will need to leave $500 in credit limit behind on each of these cards i.e. they will allow you to transfer over $3500 from the IHG card and $5500 from the Gateway onto the Freedom Flex. Be sure to clearly explain that you want to transfer the limit over and then close the card out, the CSR can process that in 2 discrete steps back to back for each card while you're on the phone.

Hi All, looking for some input on whether to keep or consolidate Chase cards.

Currently I have 3 Chase CCs. (1) Freedom Flex, no AF ($5k limit), (2) IHG Select, $49 AF ($4k limit), (3) United Gateway , no AF ($6k limit).

I used to get immense value from the IHG card, and the free night was very valuable. However, I don't find myself staying at IHG properties at all anymore and have not been able to redeem the Chase free night award (it seems like nothing is ever available where I am travelling these days).

Same with the United card, I used to have the Explorer card, but downgraded since I rarely, if ever fly United anymore (typically fly American or Delta these days).

I use the Freedom Flex for spend typically on gas when the categories are good.

The accounts were all opened around 2015.

Just curious on the opinions of whether it would be worth it to drop any cards, consolidate into one or two cards, and whether it will have a drastic impact on my credit. I'm inclined to drop at least the United card since it offers very few perks and transfer the limit to the Freedom card since it's the only one I really use.

TIA

Over time, there has been a pattern of not allowing a movement between a financials core credit products and affinity client product cards. Suspect there are legal contracts that keep the issuing bank from raiding a client banks customers so product isolation is in place.

Providers such as FNBO, TCM and Elan exist and issue cards to banks but, do not cross the line of raiding the customer base.
