Chase always asking me to call when l login

About a year ago, chase just starts asking me to call them every time l login. even before that chase was one of the first to force phone verification. l still remember when you could login with email verification codes. now theyve just taken things to the next level and made it very hard for legitimate users to login. l remember even up until a few yrs ago, l never even had to use email verification codes to login to american express

I just logged on to chase. Went right in, no text or email code, nothing.

I get into Chase, no problem. They must be worried by something specific to you.

On the other hand, this 2-factor authentication crap is idiotic most of the time. I went to login to my NFCU app last night and got the message that they had instituted it for MY security and then gave me 3 options for receiving my authentication code: text, push notification, or email. The idiots don't seem to realize that if someone's got my phone and my finger (all my stuff is fingerprint biometric) they also get my texts and my push notifications...

Are you using a VPN and do you have the Chase app?

I am always okay with 2FA but never am prompted anymore from issuers for which I have their apps installed.

Chase's 2FA annoys me. They always ask for the code they text me and my password. I use a password manager and it tries to fill in both fields with the password so I have to autofill the password first then overwrite the code.

Just let me use my authenticator app, Yubikeys, or a passkey already...

No problem with Chase but several other institutions drive me nuts with the "one time" passcode EVERY time. Even when I click 'Remember Device'. I only use a PC (the same PC), not my phone.

Hit the back or close button and it took me to my account. Looks to be a one time hiccup. But I did want to add that I don't have issues generally with the CC companies, but the utilitiy companies drive me nuts. Try to log in to pay the bill, send me a text and it takes better than 10 minutes for it to arrive.

I get the passcode text for a lot of banks. I do want my accounts to be safe, so I'll go along.

Are you using an alternate browser like Brave or plugins to block cookies/ads/increase privacy? I run into this issue a lot as I use Brave but the benefits of Brave outweigh my annoyance with extra steps to log in so I keep using it.

That's probably what it is. Sometimes turning off Brave shields on those websites fixes this issue (but not with Capital One, I always get an email asking me about a new device), maybe try adding the sites to your exemptions list on your blocker(s).

In an ideal world: EXACTLY! So why the 2FA BS?

However, in the real world: pruning shears, pinking shears, knife, hacksaw, cigar cutter, paper cutter, hatchet, my entire dead body, my entire live but kidnapped & restrained person, and a myriad of other possibilities...

If I login with my fingerprint on my phone it's completely idiotic to require me to enter a verification code SENT TO MY PHONE to complete my login! It's either me or it's someone else who has whatever they need to get into the account AND to get the verification code. It's nonsense designed solely to make people FEEL more secure when, in reality, it accomplishes nothing more than that.
