Way things are now you can max out your creditcards and it takes more then 30 days for that action to show up. Reporting account balances in real time would be one good reason and incentive to pay more to have this extra informantion.

This right here is why I agree that we will end up with real time reporting at some point. I don't think it's coming soon though. Then again, with the current admin, it's probably the best chance such a thing has of becoming reality here, so maybe you're right.

O this Month I got surprise when Transunion reported my balance on my US bank cash plus account with balance which was 0.00 on the last day of month for Setember this month. Transunion shows the reporting date as OCT 9 which is the closing date for my Cash plus credit card with US bank. Does any one know if US bank has change their reporting policy in how they report to the creditbureau's.

Possibly just a one off. I've held USB cards for over 15 years. Cards all reported after month end for September and my GO card closed 6 days ago d has not reported.

Yes could just be a one-off as mentioned above. But I guess we all have to be on the lookout for another reported case/s that will give us a more definitive answer.

My US Bank card last reported on 9/30, but the statement close date was 9/29. I've only had a US Bank card since July this year, and my statement close date has always been around the end of the month. So I just assumed US Bank reported around the statement close date. But, it sounds like they usually report the balance at the end of the month, independent of the statement close date. Is that correct? Thanks

Just want to know if US bank has change any thing in how they report to the creditbureaus.

If they reported $152 (your 9 October balance) instead of $0.00 (your 30 September balance) to TransUnion that is definitely a one-off.

I've been tracking USB and Elan alike for years now (multiple accounts), haven't seen them deviate even once from the last-day-of-month thing ever. Or really last business day -- for example, if the last calendar day is on a weekend and you have a payment applied as of that weekend day, the balance on the last *business day* beforehand is what is going to show up at the credit bureaus.

But anyway, yeah, sounds like a one-off. There are always event-driven reporting scenarios, with every issuer, but I don't know what USB's would be other than first report of a spanking new account (which isn't your situation) or a CR information dispute (also not your situation as you've described it).

Maybe someone doing account review pushed "pressed any key to continue" on the wrong screen by mistake or something. Weird.

Same thing happened to me. Two of my accounts reported. One of my cash+ cards reported a balance on 10/08 and my Altitude Go reported a balance on 10/09. Both had $0 balances at the end of last month. The statements for my other 2 cards have not closed for this month yet.

If this is an error, it's likely US Bank's fault.

Yup, I just got that unpleasant surprise myself right now. I paid down my US Bank Visa Cash+ card down below the 49% threshold by the end of September. Some automatic charges (VZW etc) came through before the *statement date* mid-October and I just noticed my credit score went down about 10 points, because US Bank for some bizarre reason also reported on my statement date in the middle of October, for the first time ever. My utilization threshold is at 49.587% which I believe they round up, so my credit rating dropped. No idea why they did this for the first time ever. Very annoyed.

Just wanted to confirm that yep someone else was slightly burned by this little surprise. What timing. I want every point of good credit this month as I wanted to request CL increases for my CitiCards and Wells Fargo card, as well as possibly applying for a new credit card soon. Oh well. **bleep**?

This is just a rumor, that the banks are going to start report real time balances so if your balance changes then they will report off cycle this so you can't game the fico system and to cover up large spending so the feds can track your spending easer.

What incentive would the banks have to put that much additional effort out there? That sounds like a nightmare all around for every involved party. Especially given the fact that banks aren't required to report anything at all.

What is so hard about off cycle or real time reporting it is all done by AI and computers all automated, the govermment wants to track us and the feds usually get their way it is about terrorism if you believe that I have brige to sell you in Brooklyn.
