Do AirBnB and Priceline Count as "Travel" for Capital One Venture X?

I'm leaning toward applying for the Cap1 Venture X for my international travel.

Obviously I know that booking through the Capital One Travel portal gives the best value. But if the price at Priceline were significantly better than through Cap1's portal, I would book through Priceline instead.

I know you can redeem points for "travel" purchases, so my question is: does Priceline count as a "travel" category?

Also, does AirBnB count as a travel category?

Yes, for the Cover Travel Purchases option at 1 CPP, Priceline is definitely eligible. Not certain about Air BNB but my bet is yes it's eligible too.

I would never use this option as I can get way better than 1 CPP for my miles, but I can see that it's available.

Good to know; thanks! The reason I ask is because I don't know if Capital One's travel portal always has the best prices, and I assume Cap1 won't price match Priceline.

The prices in their portal are usually competitive, unlike the Citi portal, for example, which is like +30% in my experience.

Capital One does have price matching, and it should apply to Price line, though I must admit I've never used it. Here's a TPG article about it:

It would be a super-valuable aspect assuming it would apply to Priceline, Expedia, etc. But I didn't know if Capital One would exclude third parties like Priceline and Expedia from the price-matching.

Yes, it includes 3rd party sites. But the caveat is it only covers publicly available prices. So if you're logged into Priceline and they're offering you a special rate, that doesn't count.

Does either of you know how the price match travel credits work? If you get a credit, is it effectively a refund? Meaning you give back some of the 5x points you earned by booking through Capital One Travel portal?

It would be super nice if you could book through the portal, earn the 5x points, and then get to keep all those points AND get a credit for the price difference. But that seems like it might be too good to be true lol?

I've read that, yes, they take the 5x back on the credited portion, but I don't have personal experience.
