AAA Daily Visa Card

I'm sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to make a nice clean link, My ignorance, but I can't make it work out.

I'm asking if anyone has any knowledge of any problems, or requirements that don't seem to stand out. I'm interested, but don't want to unthaw my reports and get a hard pull for something that isn't a good product.

I'm not a AAA member, and don't have any interest in becoming one. But I don't see where that's a requirement. Maybe I'm just missing it?

No requirement to be a AAA member. The 5% on groceries is really good! The only issue I've come across is that redeeming cashback requires a statement balance, so that's annoying if you tend to pay ahead of the statement cutting.

it's not a requirement to be triple A.

if you're in the wrong zip code, hitting apply will send you to a page where it's for some crappy 3-2-1 card, you'll need to finagle with the link to get to the right card

it's capped at like 10k spend per year on the elevated categories

it's ran by comenity bank, which isn't ideal.

if you're adverse to that, stick with a BCP/Savor/Gold etc.

I use the card for all my groceries (and also gas) and haven't had any problems at all with it.

@DakotaM this may (???) have changed... I don't have the card myself, but it's been recently reported that they now allow redemption by direct deposit.

Yes, they now allow direct deposit in addition to statement credit. (I can't speak about the statement balance issue because I always float and thus generate statement balances.) Also, I usually get the option to redeem the rewards by the next day, even if the generating transaction is still listed as pending — something I don't think happens with any of my other cards.

I prefer a redemption to the statement balance, and don't mind at all posting a balance, so that's ideal.

Super information about the wrong zip code putting me toward the wrong card. I really appreciate the head's up.

I'm cool with that cap. It'll actually help me rein in, and I do have other cards to switch to if needed.

I understand about Comenity not being amazing.

Hi @1lifeisworthit, I have this card and others have accurately detailed some paticulars. I want to add the following for earnings:

* 5% cash back on grocery store purchases.

* 3% cash back on gas and electric vehicle-charging stations, wholesale clubs (Costco, Sams & BJs), streaming services, pharmacy, and purchases at AAA.

* 1% cash back on all other purchases.

* Combined earn of 5% cash back on grocery store and 3% cash back on wholesale club/gas & electric vehicle-charging purchases on the first $10,000 spent in a calendar year ($833/month), then 1% thereafter.

For me, 5% at grocery stores include Whole Foods, Walmart In-Store Only (ymmv) and Trader Joes, in addition to all my local/regional grocery stores. The 3% at gas stations, pharmacies, wholesale clubs and my AAA membership renewals works as advertised.

A heads up. Their are similar but not exactly the same AAA Visa Cards offered depending on where you live by zipcode. In the midwest US Bank issues the AAA Cards and is a solid financial. In the west AAA out of California for instance uses a different financial.

It was mentioned you may need to fanagle around. Not sure how that works?

Someone at Reddit indicated there was a $2 card fee attached to it. I asked for particulars but got no reply. Can you tell me what might have been meant? Do they charge to send a physical card?

Hi @1lifeisworthit, I have never gotten a fee. My card does require a statement balance to actually post before allowing one to redeem as a statement credit, and requires there to be a minimum of $5 rewards. I've never tried redeeming as a deposit to another account. I usually prepay before the statement cuts for AZE_ but let it hit every few months just to sweep out the rewards balance.

My AAA card is through Comenity, but as others have stated there are several underwriting lenders for these cards, depending on where you live, etc. I belive this is because AAA itself is not actually a 'truly national' club, but a consortium of 'regional clubs' and each club gets to decide which lender to partner with for their credit card. My local AAA club is 'Mid-Atlantic' but as folks have said, I don't think you need to be a AAA member to apply for the card, so trying for another lender's version of the card may be possible - I haven't tried.

As far as cashback goes, based on my personal spend this is my #3 highest monthly earner, after my USB Cash+ and/or Sams Club Plus WEMC. I know there are folks here who have negative opinions on Synchrony and/or Comenity but I have yet to experience any negatives personally. All lenders have their quirks; best not to have too many cards with any one of them and spread yourself around so nobody has a chokehold on your business. But from what I can tell, this is the best (maybe only) no annual fee %5 earner on groceries out there, and it just works...

The observation on AAA Clubs being a consortium of regional clubs may be spot on. SInce 1973 I have run into different AAA Clubs and never thought of it that way. Likely, they share common programs but have the individuality to do other things. In the past I noticed (may not be today) that the California AAA was progressive and may have lead the pack.

As of now, I have not followed them and lack a current view.

It's my month-a-versary with my AAA daily advantage. No $2 fee. No issues with the card. I haven't redeemed my rewards yet, but as a single person who is only using it for gas and groceries (so not a ton of spend), I'm already at $30 in rewards. It's going to be a handy card!

I'm in the Midwest and my card was issued by Comenity.
