USAA - Five Days of Double Cash Back (Old Limitless Card)

Today I got a mailer about a "Special 5-Day Event" for my USAA Preferred Cash Rewards Visa (previous Limitless Visa). Basically for December 1 through December 5 they're doubling the rewards rate from 1.5% to 3% on the first $3K. ($45 gain if maxed out)

(Usual disclaimer: My link is righteous, but it's short so for safety it's easy enough to just manually retype it into your browser.)

I was prompted to login, then was redirected to the "offer" which matched the mailer. No activation was necessary. If you happen to still have a card that was force-converted from the Limitless it might be worth checking to see if you have the offer.

I've not used the converted card in ages, and I don't know if I'll bother taking it out for this deal. I have most categories covered at 5% anyway so there's little need. I use my Blue Cash Everyday for 3% back on online purchases so I guess I could swap in the USAA card, but since it's a wash there's not much need. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Have you truly not used it at all? And for how long? I've got my USAA rewards set for EZPass only just to keep it active.

I used it at a vending machine back in July/August for $1.25. Before that was January, or possibly last year. (I try to put a "keep alive" charge on unused cards every six months or so.)

That would be a link that takes you where it's supposed to, as opposed to one that takes you somewhere unexpected in order to harvest your personal information.

It's usually safer to retype links to banks and other sites that involve information that should be kept private (like login info). I always advocate for safety over convenience with stuff like this, and since it would be hypocritical for me to say "trust me, bro" I suggest folks retype bank links I provide as well.

Tad off subject but, going back to the day when USAA had the Limitless Card they only offered it to some select states. It was a test I suspect on sustainability for rewards at 2.5%. Once the dust settled, I found my state was not included. Being a good MyFicoer, I wrote to the USAA management and requested they add my state (yeah right some vet want us to add his state). They did add it after their cutoff (last state added).

Did like the card a lot. When they went to the 1.5% I closed all my accounts with them and moved elsewhere. Liked the Limitless Cash Card however.

I was a fan as well, but I have to admit it I didn't use it as often as I thought I would.

Turns out that having a pile of 3% and 5% cards takes care of most of my swipes, not leaving much left over for a 'general use' card.

Now that it's a Quicksilver clone I have nearly no use for it at all, but I've kept it around in case something interesting comes up (ironically, the same reason I keep my Capital One Quicksilver cards around). When USAA force-PC'ed the Limitless they said there would be promos, but I have to say I've been less than impressed so far.
