Are there any Credit unions that ONLY pull Transunion?

Hello,

I was wondering if you guys know of any credit unions that pull ONLY Transunion for credit apps? TU is my BEST score. If know of any other financial institutions that only pull TU, you can list them, too. I need CCC that will accept a BK as well. Tu score is 670 and Bk discharged 6/01.

Would appreciate any input.

It's been said on this board many CU's pulls EQ reports. I'm not aware of any that pulls TU. Maybe a local hometown CU in your area pulls something different.

I would first inquire as to whether the CU inquiry will be a soft or hard pull.

If it is aq soft inquiry, it doesnt matter.

United Federal CU pulls only TransUnion if you qualify for membership.

All the CU in RI seem to pull TU.

I didn't know this about Rhode Island, interesting!

CU's in the Upper Midwest usually pull TU.

Hi.

The only 100% guaranteed way to make sure someone pulls the credit report you want is to freeze the other two. It saves grief when 10 people tell you 'fer sure! they always pull XXX credit report!'.................. only to find out that in your geographic region they pull someone else, or that policy has been changed since those 10 people applied. If your chosen credit report is pulled, you're fine. If it's not, you can recon and ask them if they will pull. If they refuse to pull, again you're fine.

If it's only a preference that they pull XXX and not a 'necessity', I can understand why wouldn't want to freeze report and just take a chance.

If you'd prefer not to pay to freeze your credit report (or unfreeze it), because something rubs you the wrong way about paying, then don't. A lot of people feel that way. For me, that $5 (in my state, and because I haven't filed an ID theft report; costs differently elsewhere) is worth a hell of a lot more than a 25 month inquiry on Experian. Also saves on collection agency fishing expeditions that are hards as opposed to softs.

I don't know what myfico's policy is about credit freezing though. They may not recommend it, unless in the case of ID theft.

I belong to 1* who pulls Experian, no exceptions

*edit to include name: New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union. I've been with them since the 90s. If someone else has them, and hasn't gotten the 'we pull Experian' and 'no exceptions' treatment within the past 2, 3 years -- or recently -- I'm all ears.

not sure if bk friendly but Affinity FCU (open FOM) pulled TU for me.

they generally pull EX but apparently can make exceptions... IIRC another board member- wmarat also had them pull TU when he joined recently.

my situation was a bit odd in that i requested TU but the rep. i spoke to initially said not possible -so i unfreeze EX and they pulled TU anyway. YMMV

Wells Fargo is not a credit union; and out here in New Mexico (at least in my city) they pull Experian. For everything.

They've also trained their CSRs and supervisors, in the past, to say 'soft pull for checking and savings accounts' -- but no one over there knows the difference between a hard credit inquiry pull and a soft credit inquiry pull. So why do the CSRs and supes specify soft pull when asked, if they don't know the difference? who knows. Intentionally misleading customers? probably.

Again, OP: YMMV from someone else's -- neither I nor Elizabeth are wrong -- and freeze the credit report you don't want pulled.
