Cap1 QuicksilverOne annual fee waiver

I have been tryting for over ten years to upgrade my QuicksilverOne card to a QuickSilver card without the annual fee. Well this year I was able to get the annual fee waived, even though they would not upgrade the account. I consider that a win. Next January when the annual fee posts again, I will again request an upgrade or annual fee waiver. If that is not possible I will close the account. It is 14 years old and I have another Capital One account that is 17 years old. The oldest credit card is 38 years old. I'm not sure why they continue to deny me an upgrade. But, I will inform them of my plans to close it if it is not upgraded to a no-fee card. I will update this story a year from now. Right now I am relieved that I was able to get the fee waived this year.

congrats on getting the fee waived, hopefully you can get an upgrade next year or so

you could always close the card it's well beyond served its purpose for you I imagine

Positive update -

On December 10, 2025 (exactly 15 years to the day of opening) I received an invitation on my CapOne dashboard to "upgrade" my QuickSilverOne card to a regular, no-AF QuickSilver card. I clicked and easily upgraded. Several minutes later a prorated credit for one month's AF was posted on my account, even though the AF had been waived in January 2025. Before Christmas, I received the new card.

15 years of persistence has paid off!

That's fantastic that you finally were provided with the upgrade option so you didn't have to continue playing the request the AF be waived game annually. I also appreciate you stopping back into your thread a year later with the update on this!

Whoo-hoo! I'm glad to hear you had the outcome you were hoping for!

Sometimes good things come to those who wait... my Capital One upgrade saga was similar to your own, but today that card is my grandfathered no-AF Savor card so it was definitely worth the hassle!

Another thought... with Capital One buying Discover who knows what possibilities lie ahead for your freshly minted no-fee Quicksilver!

Your persistence and patience is admirable. I would have closed that card and found a two percent cash back long before the time you waited.
