Unfortunately, the Pay Over Time feature on the annual fee option is not available. So when the bill arrives for that, it needs to be paid in full ($895). If you are concerned about having the funds available to pay it, then perhaps it really wasn't a good idea to get the card in the first place (there are many other Amex cards out there which allow you to pay a balance over time). Don't get me wrong here, but even though the POT feature is available for the Amex Platinum Card, the AF does not count. You either have to pay in full or face late fees (and possible account suspension or closure, in addition to accrued interest, and even a blemishes on your credit report due to having missed payments, even though you are sending them money, it isn't enough to keep the account current). Consider it as a way for Amex to test you on ability to pay off a full balance since that type of account is normally reserved for those who have elite credit (at least 800 credit score) and the income (at least 6 figures combined or sole, plus a low debt threshold) to support. If you applied to this card by mistake, and as long as you don't activate it, you can actually downgrade to a card with a lower AF. If you declare that you make an ex amount of money per year on your app for the card, and have concerns about having the ability to pay the $895 in full, then perhaps you are not being truthful. Be honest. You can still hold an Amex Card in your wallet and enjoy the benefits it comes with, but without the concern of having to pay off the $895 (and not being able to use the account, which defeats the purpose of owning this prestige card).

No, you cannot put AMEX AF on Pay Over Time nor Plan It.

Bonus answer: The AF that you pay does not count toward the spend necessary to earn the SUB.

If one cannot pay the AF on a card in one cash payment, one should not be considering that card. This applies to all cards with AF regardless of bank.

HOWEVER I can assure you that should the OP get the Platinum card and actually use POT right off the bat to pay the AF (which will be billed the very first statement) then it will spook AmEx which in turn I would guess will greatly effect the cards internal soft limit. But way more important if one can't afford to pay the $695 AF in full as soon as the bill comes then then that person has no business with this card. Plain and simple. As another side note to have and truly benefit and use this card ones salary is especially important financially if we're being honest as $695 shouldn't even be a financial second thought. If it is then it sounds more like a "flex" move just to say "oh I have an AmEx Platinum card" than it is a good financial move.

AmEx states right in the Terms of POT that any charge card's AF can in fact be paid using POT and every time mine bills that option always shows up in the POT.

If we are being honest, $695 should always be a financial thought no matter how wealthy one thinks they are if they want to stay that way.

Also, while I understand what you are trying to say, it seems a bit on judgemental side because opinions are being expressed without OP stating why

For all you know, an emergency could have happened, maybe cash flow is interrupted this month, maybe there are extra bills, or maybe it makes sense for them long term to pay some interest right now.

Maybe there is absolutely no reason, and that's okay, too. None of us are paying OPs bills
