I was buying into the negativity train until I ran numbers for myself on the Palladium - I'm not sure I'll keep it past the first year, but it does seem at least possible, depending on personal preferences and Bilt point valuation of course.

My/P2's mortgage is a bit over $2k but I will use $2k to make the math easier. If I hold a Bilt card and pay our mortgage through it, I could earn 2k Bilt points by spending $60 in Bilt Cash to unlock the points. I could earn $60 in Bilt Cash from $1.5k spend (outside of housing) on a Bilt card, which with Palladium's 2X would earn another 3k points, for a total of 5k points. An admittedly complicated system, but once rolling should become easy to navigate.

I have a bunch of cashback cards that earn 5%, with which $1.5k in spend would earn $75. If I valued Bilt points at 1.5cpp, the 5k points would be close in value to the $75 in cashback, in which case I would generally prefer the $75 in cashback, for flexibility.

But I have valued Bilt points around 2cpp, especially for cheaper Hyatt stays, putting 5k in points around $100 in value. Would I prefer to juggle a bunch of 5% cards for $75 cashback on $1.5k spend, or would I prefer to put $1.5k spend on one card that earns a bit higher, due to being able to unlock points on housing through spend?

Honestly, I don't know the answer, but there is a 50k points + $300 Bilt Cash sign-up bonus, plus the bonus +5X for the first 5 days through The Points Guy (mentioning as it is specific to them), so I'm going to give it a shot for a year.

I think the biggest unknown is Bilt Cash and how it can be used, but there is some personal hope there, my pharmacy is already Walgreens and prescriptions are listed as a use, though not sure if 1:1. One year with the card will certainly give plenty of time and experience, though.

I'll post separately about my approval but did get approved for $12k. My limit with Wells Fargo is $15k, will certainly take $12k for 2.0 given my recent velocity. I elected to keep the to-be-Autograph open, I already have another at $4.5k limit (was originally Propel), maybe I'll be able to PC one of them at some point, maybe I'll just close the lower limit one.

Between the low redemption rates for statement credit for points (0.55 cent per point) and 2026's introduction of Bilt cash to replace Milestore rewards (Bilt cash - used within the Bilt ecosystem for everyday spending like dining, fitness, home goods, and travel, earned at a rate of $50 for every 25,000 Bilt Point), it does seem like it's not really going to blow minds or become the flavor of the month.

Obsidian and palladium cards? Sounds fancy. I put iridium plugs in my car (impressed the wife), can I get an iridium card? They also have Ruthenium plugs, that doesn't sound as sexy. Maybe an Americium card for patriots. It should glow in the dark.

There are limited ways to redeem it. Previously BILT offered free rent/mortgage payments but the new program apparently charges a 3% fee. So the 4% Bilt Cash effectively helps to offset that and encourages cardholders to swipe the card more often.

I believe the "points" equate to cash back and 1 point = 0.01 cents. So the cards earn respectively 1%, 3-2-1%, or 2-1%. And then on top of that, they earn the Bilt Cash.

Bilt Cash will be earned as a signup bonus, and will also be earned at a rate of 4% of your regular spend on the card. For example, if you spend $750 each month on your Bilt card on ordinary purchases, you’ll have $30 (4%) in Bilt Cash which can be used to offset $1,000 in rent/mortgage payments since that would usually cost 3% or $30.

Bilt Cash will also be able to be used for Bilt Travel hotel bookings, Lyft credit, select fitness classe, GoPuff, select dining partners, and for the Bilt Collection.

As an example, if there is a better sign-up bonus available if one applies within a branch, Doctor of Credit will say such and encourage people to do so while the vast majority of sites will not since explaining such would reduce the number of people signing up using their affiliate links. This example does not relate to Bilt, but just shows that Doctor of Credit prioritizes unbiased information, and thus has earned the respect of this community.

There is nothing wrong with mentioning (ANY) third-party multiple new forum members suddenly mentioning one particular for-profit site's "recommendations" which appeared to be a possible marketing ploy since most sites earn money from affiliate marketing links. (I counted 18 references over a few months.) If they had mentioned a dozen different offer card reviews. Some may be quite reputable and I acknowledged in <A thread< that some of these reviews might even be helpful. However, the mere presence of affiliate links must also make us skeptical, even when the website claims they are impartial in those disclosures. I think you can see how odd it is that just one website kept getting mentioned. the above websites, even the more reputable ones. Doctor of Credit was started in 2012 and is unique for several reasons, not the least of which is the absence of credit card affiliate links. They are often mentioned on My FICO for the same reason they came up in this thread: their reports are frequently on the leading edge of changes in the credit card world. Not only is the website a trove of valuable impartial information on a wide variety of financial topics, but they also have a "community" which is allowed to contribute posts on threads. I like >this review< of They do have affiliate links, but they aren't afraid to tell you when you can buy points (when on sale/discount/bonus) for lower than what other sites claim they are worth.

Back to the BILT card rumors...

After reviewing everything currently available online in advance of the actual rollout, I think I will opt to allow my 30K BILT card to transition to the WF Autograph.

I may or may not succumb to then applying for the new BILT Blue (no AF). I SHOULD remain in the garden, though...BUT...maybe I am wrong...I have a hunch that the new BILT will be eager to recapture those who opted to go the Autograph route, perhaps offering good SUBs. I don't know if anybody else sees it this way. It's just a hunch. I personally don't see it as a bad thing to have both.

I'll just be letting my Bilt card roll over to a WF Autograph and likely will not be taking one of the new Bilt cards. Not sure I'll use the Autograph much but seems like a pretty decent backup travel card if I cancel my CSP in the future (can't rely on just the Amex Plat since not everywhere intl accepts it).

I'm 5/24 and will be 4/24 in Feb, but if I accept a new card I won't be 4/24 again until June or so. The new Bilt probably isn't worth extending this period.

My rent is fairly high so I'd have to put way too much spend on the Bilt blue card to cover the fee. I have a 4% Smartly 1.0 card (for now anyway), so there's just too much lost to trying to put all of the non-category spend on a Bilt card. I'm also getting a bit of optimization fatigue when it comes to dealing with trakcing the spend on multiple complicated cards, and don't want to add a Pladium version when I already have so many Amex's and Chase's with annual fees, category bonuses, quarterly/annual credits and all of that to track

A significant part of the Bilt appeal to me was also that I gained an extra month or so float on my rent payment and could keep it in my Fidelity SPAXX checking account to earn interest, but as the interest rate drops this is becoming less valuable.

Also, following the trend of most card issuers lately this card could be nerfed even more in the next year or so. I had the original Bilt for about 2 years and it made me some pretty good earnings. Booked a last minute return flight from Paris with 22k bilt points for a flight that would have cost me about $2k otherwise, so it was definitely worth it for a while. Moving forward, probably not.

I'm hoping that the 3% transaction fee is not true. There's just simply no justification for getting the card if so. It was the one unique benefit they offered.
