PC to Quicksilver or Venture One… Or Wait For Venture?

TLDR: How often do PC to Venture appear for COQS1 holders?

I currently hold the Capital One Quicksilver One and have offers to PC to a a QS or Venture One. If I did PC it would purely be to no longer hold a "sub prime" CC, otherwise my only interest in Capital One is in the far future and this would be for positioning only.

I recently cleared all my UTL with them (was sitting at 50-70%) and I was curious on how often a PC to a Venture appears for people. Otherwise I'm considering getting the Venture 1 with the long term thought process of later being able to work towards a regular Venture, and maybe some time after that a VentureX via PC.

You'll never get an offer to upgrade a QS1 to a Venture X or a full Venture, but you shouldn't do it even if they did. Why would you deprive yourself of the signup bonuses and still pay the annual fees?

Take the offer to upgrade to a VentureOne or QS, just to get rid of the annual fee on your QS1, which is likely a bucketed subprime card with limited growth. Apply for the other cards when you're ready.

^^This. But, don't upgrade to Venture One. It's a terrible card. You're way better off with a basic Quicksilver, Savor if they offer, but they probably won't. What they don't advertise is that you get 5% cash back on travel booked through Capital One Travel with the Quicksilver. There is zero value to 1.25x miles when you can get 1.5% cash back.

The value of the card doesn't really mean much to me, as after my next CLI request I plan to stop using the card regardless of its an approved or not and then sockdrawering. I also already don't pay any annual fees as Capital One waves them due to my active duty status.

As for depriving myself of signup bonuses? I don't see myself being able to meet the minimum spend for either the Venture or Venture X. My expenses, living in government quarters and such, are pretty low and following my CC debt paydown (current UTL 15%, ~3k Revolving debt, ~$13k installment) I have other savings + retirement objectives. I likely won't see myself having any substantial spend ability or travel ability for a ~2+ years, so right now I'm just trying to build a solid backbone for my future and to have card benefits to milk.

Maybe I'm being too greedy and planning too far out, but regardless this card won't be used much now or in the future, it's just my oldest line of credit.
