Clean Experian Report

I just finished cleaning up my Experian report. I tried to apply for Amex Blue Cash Everyday but got denied due to thin profile. How do I build from here? Thank you in advance for any reponse

Experian Fico Score 8 - 753

Auto Loan- 25K remaining, paid 17%

Closed mortgage loan

No primary credit card account

Congratulations on getting your reports cleaned up. I'd stay away from predatory cards, no more loans especially those advertised to "build your credit"... Capital One is thin/new profile friendly. I'm sure others will have some other recommendations.

Get one card for now, build a positive payment history with it over the next 4 to 6 months, then look at adding an additional card.

BCE was a good first try, no ding decline, pretty much guaranteed Experian puller.

Capital One will pull all 3, so YMMV depending on how dirty your other 2 reports are.

I would check pre-approvals for:

Capital One

Discover

Chase

Chase Amazon Visa

I'm sure others will have suggestions also.

Definitely agree with @JoeRockhead to avoid the bottom feeders. Also avoid anything with an annual fee. You just need something to get you started. 6 months to a year of responsible use and the doors will start opening.

Just curious, if you freeze all but one of the 3 bureaus will Capital One still approve you with one bureau HP?
