Update your BoA CC balance now: You can get your CR balance updated in 1 day

I know I posted this once before, but I want to post again, because I just tested this out and confirmed once again.

If you need to get your BoA balance updated on your CR quickly, don't call BoA and ask, there is a guaranteed better way.

1. Login to BoA CC online (if you have multiple BoA accounts, click on CC account

2. Click on SERVICES tab

3. Click on "Update your address and/or phone number"

4. Type in address and phone numbers (same exact, no change needed, just type it in again)

5. Check the box next to your CC account (make sure you select your CC as the account to apply changes to)

6. Click SUBMIT

I did this last night at 4:30 p.m.

This morning at 7:30 a.m. I logged into CCT and pulled my CR's and BAM....Experian was all ready showing my updated BoA balance!

This is the second time I have confirmed this. It is automated so you don't have to wait on CS people or to get anybody to do anything special. I have tried to get updates through CS before, and can say "don't count on it." But this is fool proof!

Thanks for the tip txjohn! Just updated mine. I made a large payment Tuesday so I'm interested to see if it changes my cs.

Cool, txjohn. For whatever reason BofA hasn't updated my balance on TU and EQ since Nov. I'll give it a try if my balance doesn't change come this statement.

FYI: Experian will update immediately. EQ and TU will take a few days.

UPDATE: EQ was updated this morning when I checked balances on CCT. So, EX reported in 1 day, EQ reported in 2 dayds. I'll update when TU updates.

Results:
======

01/15 Updated Address/Phone online BoA

01/16 EX reported updated balance (along with new reported address/phone which was same as before)

01/17 EQ reported updated balance

QUESTION: I wonder if other CC issuers who allow you to update account info online also send updates to CRA's immediately mid-cycle?

I am positive this will result in a SW alert for me by tomorrow. Usually it takes 1-2 days from actual EQ CR update before SW alert. This reduces my number of balances, plus the balance was very high $9.6k on $10k CL (now $0)....so util should benefit too.

I'll post once I get the alert.

SW usually alerts on upticks (increases) and not downticks - unless they cause a score change. That's one of the benefits of switching up the cards you report balances on - the balance uptick forces a SW alert. It will be interesting to see what happens for you.

That's what I am speaking of....my score will increase, so I'll get the alert.

I discovered this "trick" with BoA by accident. I changed my contact phone number and ended up with a reported balance change mid-cycle and my balance went from $0 to $9.6k. This increased number of balances and util percentages. I got a SW alert that account balance had increased and that account percentage had increased. I also got alert that score changed (down).

So, I now used this in reverse, paid balance off, then updated address/phone and had reported mid-cylce to $0 again. I expect I'll get alert with account balance/percentage decrease and score change.

BTY & FYI: Discover has also reported updates mid-cycle when I added/deleted AU's or changed address/phone info. Not as sure about what all triggers what with them, and not necessarily can it all be done online, nor does it necessarily and automatically update reports like BoA.

I actually had to update my home and work phone numbers. I hope my zero BofA balance shows up on my EX report very soon. I paid off a VERY large balance on this card recently.

If it successfully updated (got a confirmation page) then you can rest assured that by Monday you should see update on Experian. Within a couple days usually EQ follows, then TU updates within a couple more days. All in all, you should see all of the CRA's updated within approximately a week. But EX immediately...so if you are app'ing an EX puller....you get immediate results!

Mine are all updated, I have received SW alerts and score changes.

EX next day. EQ 2 days. TU 4 days.

I will try typing in my entire address with the phone numbers. I will let you know if that does the trick.
