United Visa Signature Card - Chase

I have a Visa Signature card issued by Chase with a $10,000 limit. As yoiu know, the limit doesn't report so it looks like my utilization is higher than it really is. I'm thinking about calling Chase and asking for a product change to something that reports a limit to the CRB. Can anyone tell me the downside of doing so? Am I asking for trouble?

I have a checking and savings account with them as well as a MasterCard with an $8,000 limit. I PIF the signature card every month and I'm carrying a $700 balance on the MC because the interest rate is 0 but pay well over the minimum on this card every month.

Usually airline credit cards especially the one with World Mastercard and Visa Signature logos are No Preset Spending Limit. These accounts do not report Credit Line to the credit bureau as I have try to asked my Citi AA World Mastercard account to report to the CB and they couldn't do it.

Ive had the Chase British Airways Visa Signature card for almost 8 years and although these forums seem to hate on chase quite often, Ive never experienced any issues. In fact, I usually go to Italy to visit family about twice a year. Last year, I came home and noticed about 4k in charges to Alitalia airlines that I never purchased (If you have ever flew Alitalia, you would understand why I would swim before I get on their planes) and I called up their CSR, which, at least for the British Airways card, is a dedicated line and the charges were reversed that day, never heard another word about it except to sign an affidavit stating I did not purchase the tickets.

As far as PC'ing to another card, I wouldnt. Since you stated you pay in full for this account, the Util % doesnt matter, assuming you pay before statement cuts. However, if that is bothering you, the next time you need to make a large purchase, say 5k or over, buy it on your card, let it report, and voila, you have a new CL. I did this on accident several years ago. Remodeling a property, I decided to purchase all the new appliances, water heater, AC, etc: and so now my CL shows somewhere around 15k, however, it is actually over 20k.

Sorry for the length, but I would reccommend against PC'ing, especially if they have a dedicated line like my BA sig visa has, its worth the CL issue just for that issue alone.

Good point about the customer service. I hadn't thought about that. I guess I'll leave things the way they are.

They won't PC. I've tried many many times with the card.
