Your Latest FICO® Scores TransUnion 766 Date: 3/30/2010 Equifax 773 Date: 3/15/2010 When I came to these boards in November, I was dejected, frustrated and motivated to get help. Chase had just closed my WAMU card. I had 4 medical collections, 1 AT@T cell phone collection for $200 and 85% Utilization on my credit cards. With the help of you guys, I contacted the original creditors and arranged to "pay for delete" on all collections (about $5000.00) . I used email and snail mail and went directly to the CEO's or CFO's of each company. That took about 2 months. Then, I started to pay down cards. My credit score jumped into the 700's in December and Cap 1 and Orchard gave me credit line increases. I have AAofA of 6 years, 16 years of credit history and no late pays or collections. My utilization is about 20%. I will pay that off in 60 days. I decided to put an app in for Penfed yesterday and was approved (no docs required) for their Penfed Rewards Visa for $16,500. I called back to make sure today. The app is approved and the card will be mailed tomorrow! I have an income between 80-100k and have had the same job for 4 years. I have no mortgage and no car loan ( I will be getting a car loan soon). Chase has offered me a 60 month car note at 3.9%. Just wanted to say that it is possible. It is still shocking to me how fast things turned the corner once I started to listen to everyone here. Thanks.

It really does feel great! I was sweating the Penfed app. I knew my score, but was expecting the worst. Thanks for all that you do to help people like me!

UPDATE: I just logged onto Penfed this morning and was preapproved for a $35,000 auto loan at 3.99%. I'm not going to borrow that much, but

it's nice to know that I could! I'm lovin' Penfed!

Terren2000,

It took quite a bit of searching for the name of the original creditor and then googling things like, "board of directors company "x"" or "CEO of x company". Then, I went up the ladder and finally got an email address. Usually, if you have the name of the CEO and can find an email address of anyone in the company, you can figure out how the address looks. The CEO would typically send a note to the head of the group that handled collections, etc and ask them to contact me. I also did this with the CEO's of the collection agencies and sent a very nice letter explaining my situation and asking for help deleting the record if I paid for the item in question. I know that this is not the conventional method and does come with some risk. However, it worked for me with 4 medical collections from 2005 and a cell phone bill from 2003. It took time and effort and money, but boy is it nice to have great scores. The key is getting the CEO to "make" the Manager of the recovery/collection group handle your complaint. I also insisted on an email from the Collection Agency or Original creditor saying that they would delete from a 3 bureaus BEFORE I sent them a certified letter with a cashiers check in it. Then, followed up to make sure it was deleted. I sent thank you notes to everyone afterwards. Maybe I'm nuts, but I was so happy to have been helped. Good Luck!

I was encouraged to read this post of how you got the items deleted. I've sent pfd letters to all of my past collections with no responses at all. I was bummed until i read your post. Would you be willing to give me some pointers on how to start this process with getting them deleted?

Everybody is always talking about Penfed... I am new and trying to catch up. I did some googling, and I am assuming you are talking about PenFed.org...Pentagon Frederal Credit Union?
