Cap One CLI request...too soon?

I have a 3 month old Capital One CC with a $2000 CL. It is due to have a $500 CLI in the next week or two. Would it be too early to ask for more of an increase than the $500? Would they give much more than that? I do remember when I got the pre-approved letter in the mail that my credit line could have been between $300 and $3000. Does that mean $3000 is the most that CC will ever go for a CL? Thanks!!

how do you know you are due for a 500 increase? how do you know it will be 500?

Because I paid for 3 straight months on time. Some sort of automatic CLI.

Does anyone know if Capital One has an upper limit to their cards?

Yeah they do. The card I have goes from $300 to $3000 max. If you look at their website and locate the card you have, it shows the min and max limits for it.

I think mine is also a $3000 max. So, the most I can ask for is $1000 CLI n this card? Do they usually upgrade to a better card?

That's what I'm hoping. I somehow doubt it will be an easy thing to do though.

Although, I have no issues with Capital One at all whatsoever. Except that they won't GW a 30 day late from a couple years ago. But that's my fault, not theirs.

sort of, from what i understand. keep the card you have, get you scores/reports looking better, app for a better card, then combine old into new and start new tl history. at least this is what i've heard.
