I just read on this website (http://www.allbusiness.com/legal/consumer-law-consumer-credit-reporting/14172730-1.html) that 8 of the top 10 credit card issuers use VantageScore. This has me curious because I thought everyone uses FICO!

Why would so many credit card issuers use VantageScore? Are there any benefits to me as an end consumer to use VantageScore?

My FICO score is high, and I rather credit card issuers use that instead of VantageScore because I have no idea what that score means.

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi, ffasano! Welcome to the forums!

I think that the 8 out of 10 top credit card issuers "using" the VantageScore use it just like I "use" the spare tire in the trunk of my car...I don't rely on it for daily driving, but it's useful to have as a backup.

If I was making credit decisions, I might want another opinion, too...as a supplement.
