What is your wish CC and why?

I have not applied for any credit cards since july of this year and will not apply until August 2009. I want a Penfed card and I dont want anything to mess up my chances of getting this card. I am paying down my cc and hope to have a UTIL% of less than 3% with no inqs and no baddies. I want this card because of the high credit line they give and great cash back rewards.

What is your wish credit card and why? What are you doing to make sure you get this card?

I want a plain old AmEx green charge card, but one that I was approved on, not an authorized user account. My thinking is that this will be my very first starter card as a person with reformed credit. Once AmEx approves me, I know that I am good to go with anybody else from then on.

Although I think the rewards on the Blue Cash (which I currently have - at least until AmEx decides to do their AmEx thing and close or make unusable via CLD, of course) are actually better for me right now, I'd still like that PenFed card, as it sounds like far less hassle all around.

I'm not doing anything to help myself get it, though, as I don't think I can. I have a reasonably decent EQ FICO and very low util (about 2% reporting last time I checked, and it's not changed significantly since then), not many inqs on EQ (three in the last year, none in the last six months), although I do have two new accounts in the last six months (Discover in September, and US Bank Overdraft Protection that I didn't even want, so am kicking myself for opening, in November)... there's not really much I can do to improve on all of that save wait for inqs to drop and accounts to get a bit older. But from what I've read, there's no way I'll be able to be approved by them, because of my DTI - despite having very low CC utilization, the fact that they won't accept household income means that my (joint, with husband) mortgage payment, although it's perfectly affordable, probably puts them right out of my league. I don't think we'd get in with a joint app (husband has old, albeit paid, collections), so short of doubling my income or something... I can't see it happening.

Bah.

Therefore I just have to do my best to keep AmEx happy, as they're my best bet right about now and for the foreseeable future.

Chase Freedom.

I have 2 Chase cards, Disney Rewards: Which I got for the BT offer and could care less about the rewards. And the Chase Platinum, which I got for the 15 months 0% BT and Purchases.

I know I could easily get approved for the Freedom card, but my plan is to get a mortgage is April or May 09, get the Chase Freedom then combine all cards into the Freedom, but keeping the history of the Disney rewards, since that is older than the Platinum.

Working on getting the saks world elite mc. All my cards are in the 3k limit and need to get them up to 6k before I can apply for the card. Was going to apply for diners club but they no longer accept applications anymore.

Well, card actually does not have many perks to offer. I had to pay for Priority Pass visit, Virtuoso services are very expensive. I like Saks, but closest is in NYC about 45 min of driving away. I do not like HSBC's reporting protocol.

Called CS at 6 mos. mark to get CLI, but they wanted to pull hard, I refused of course and generally CS is not world elite.

So, right now card is SD'ed and I will probably close it at 24 mos mark.

Thanks for the tip, but do you think it will be any different then the Ameriprise world elite card? I was assuming the world elite benefits would come close to AMEX Plat.

As far as I know, the differences are:

1. Ameritrade bears AF ($150), while Saks is free.

2. Ameritrade has rewards program, which is useless for me (I do not have Ameritrade account and do not intend on opening one)

3. Ameritrade (Barclay) is a little more generious with CL.

4. Priority Pass is free through Ameritrade.

Hmm, as long as Barclays arent closing accounts like HSBC just because of 3 months of non use and if they dont charge per visit for PP in the future, I might actually have to look into that.

Do you mean the Ameriprise WE that Barclay's borders? I have the vanilla version, since I don't travel and wouldn't get the benefit's of paying the AF on that card.

Thanks, however for those who responded, can you please tell me why you would want a particular card that you are wishing for. Of course this is if you did not already.

Also if you did not respond, please do and tell us.

Also what was a card that you wished for and received that you planned for because it had a reward or something in particular that you liked? What did you do that put you into a position to get the card?

All I want is a chase disney card! That, and trying to buy the home I rent are the reasons I am trying to bring my score up. I used my moms disney card to pay for the vacation I am taking in Feb. and I want my own!!! Wonder how long until I can get one......*sigh*

All I want is to pay all my credit card debt an close all of my credit cards but 3 my two credit union visa and mc and my Macy's card just for the mix. I have discover that the best credit cards are from credit unions, no af, low aprs, good customer service, csr from the USA not from India, high credit limits.
