I'm getting ready to apply for a Citi or Chase or Cap One card at the beginning of next month. As I look at my credit reports I notice that only my EX report has my current employer listed. TU has a very old employer listed and EQ does not have any listing of my employer. Is this a red flag/ no-no situation that I need to correct before applying for a new credit card??

Also, will those credit card issuers call my employer? Should I make sure to give my company a heads up that a call from a credit card issuer will be calling??

Thanks for your comments --- always appreciated!

IMO I would say no. Unless you say your income is outragous or something I don't think they will check. I have cards with all of those banks and none of them asked me to verify my income.

Thanks for the comment. I will try to refrain from putting 1.5 Million as my annual salary! ha! By the way, would you say that it matters whether or not my employer is actually listed on my credit reports?

The only card issuer I've heard of verifying your income history would be American Express. They don't care so much about who or how long you have been employed for, they usually just want to see a recent tax return to verify income.

Edit: And they only verify income usually during a Financial Review that is triggered.
