Citibank Approved!

In my quest for a mastercard, after getting turned down by chase for a product change, I ran into a citibank promotion. The promotion gives $200 dollars for opening a new checking account. The catch was I had to have a Citibank credit card, and a competing bank checking account (Wells, Chase, what have you). After talking to the banker at Citibank, she suggested that I applied online for faster response, and to just bring her the approval after.

At this point I was a little wary about opening a new credit card (fearing miniscule credit line, another visa, or flatout rejection), but decided to pull the trigger anyway, since I figured I don't have any inquiries this year. What the hell, you know? No pain no glory. I decided to apply for the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card.

Lo and behold, after what seems like the longest 5 minutes of my life, the screen loaded a congratulations page! I was approved for Citi Dividend Platinum Select Mastercard (finally) with a limit of $5,900 at 12.99% (lowest?)

Not to sound ungrateful, but has anyone called for CLI with this card when it arrives? My OCD side started twitching, wanting a round number for credit limit hehehe...

I picked the dividend card, because when browsing through the card choices, most of them give Thank-you points instead of cashback. Anyone with Citibank experience can weigh in on the different cards they've used? (I'm most interested about the reward structure)

Thanks beforehand!

Congrats on the card and GL on the CLI. As an FYI, per your score, it doesn't matter if your card is a Visa or MC. The only time to consider what they offer (V/MC) is if you do biz with a company that only takes one card over the other. While that's rare, it can happen (e.g. the kids' school tuition only takes Visa and not MC).

Congratulations! I have 2 cards with Citi and so far my experience with them has been great. Their CSRs are extremely nice and professional.

CITI is awesome. Congrats on the new card. I just got approved for the AAdvantage American Express card last month. I know have several accounts with CITI; Home Depot, ExxonMobil, Sunoco to name a few. CITI has been very good to me and is one of my top choices.
