Hi guys, does anyone know if WFNNB (Victoria's secret/limited are the cards I have) have certain timelines for requesting CLI's? I know GEMB is every four statements normally and I thought maybe WFNNB followed a timeline as well. Also, do they do a hard or soft pull for one? .. I've never really asked for CLI's before, I usually just wait for auto ones but I'm going to start asking all my credit cards as often as they let me so I can help keep my utilization down!

Thanks guys!

I've had my card since 1/08, this was the first time I have ever requested a CLI. I normally get an increase during the holiday seasons and it's always been auto.

I started with a 250.00 dollar credit limit and now it sits at 1040.00.

You can request a CLI every 6 months, it's a soft pull. It may take a day or two for the new limit to be reflected.

I have 4 WFNNB cards that I've had since 2005/2006: Chadwick's, Metrostyle, Brylane and Newport News. They all started with $250 CL.

I never knew about asking for CLIs til I really started reading this forum about 3 yrs ago. Prior to my requests, I received a few automatic increases of around $200.

My current limits are now $2480, $2450, $1970 and $1550. I've never charged very much on any of these cards (max on a single purchase was $200 on Brylane for bedding, and about $150 - $250 per year on each). I always use the deferred billing offered so I don't pay any interest by paying off w/i 90 days.

I got these cards when my scores were really low and they've been great re-builders and utilization 'helpers' (though I didn't know about any of that stuff back when I got them!!)

This forum has been...and continues to be.....a virtual font of great information!! I'm so grateful to all the contributors!!

I figured the 6 months time line out by trying at 4 months, receiving a 'no' letter, and then resubmitting at 6 mos. Customer service never gave me a straight answer about CLIs, but I have never been denied CLI requests when I submit them at 6 mos intervals.

FWIW, if/when they do decline, they use a form letter that says "due to your poor payment history with us". I got one of those the first time I requested a CLI (@ 4 mos) and was irate because I had never been a second late. I called and was advised by CSR 'it's just a form letter they use' and the letter means they just want 'longer payment history'. I suggested that perhaps they should consider rewording their form letter as 'poor payment history' is a lot different (and more insulting) than "longer payment history"!!

The next CLIs I'll be requesting will be after the Sept statements drop, as I rec'd CLIs on a couple of these cards in March. The other 2 will be after the Dec statement.

I guess at some point I'll top out with them. CSR at one time advised they 'rarely go as high as $2000 ', but I've exceed that on 2 of these cards already. I plan to keep requesting until they advise 'no more'!!

How high the credit line goes totally depends on which store card it is. My friend has Express with $2880, he asked for increase and was sent a letter that he was at Max limit for the Express Card.

But I am auth. on Pottery Barn, Z Gallerie, and West Elm and they all started at $3k, I have never really used them so they also have not increased but I have a feeling for the furniture store places, they would go much higher.

I think you are probably right, credit.

Since mine are basically just catalogue cards and started at only $250, I'm thinking I'll be maxing out pretty soon.

I would think yours have great potential for considerably higher limits, if you were so inclined.

It asked for my salary (I had to choose weekly vs monthly vs annual; how about bi-weekly, as most of us are paid? lol), and then said I would know by mail in 2-3 days. I checked back online a couple of hours later, and my CL went from $1500 to $2250.

Now, if I could just afford their clothes...

No idea if they did a hard, but they didn't have a notice that they might access my credit report or any other verbiage. I know they didn't hard me before for the same online CLI, and I can't remember if they softed me.

JCrew is my only WFNNB backed card. I opened it in January with a $250 (or $200) limit. In May I called customer service and requested a CLI so I could shop for an upcoming trip, and they increased my limit to $450. Then today I happened to log on to my account (I haven't used it in a few months) and noticed I've been granted an auto-cli somewhere along the way - probably with my most recent statement - and now my limit is $900
