Banana Republic Card APPROVED!

Just wanted to share that I am rebuilding and got approved for the Banana Republic store card with a CL $300. I applied in store and got instant approval. They pulled Equifax which is 626 for me. I have 1 collection paid and 1 unpaid. 3 open credit cards with balances and 1 student loan $13,000 that isn't in payment yet.

I have some lates and baddies but was happy to be approved.

Just in case anybody was thinking of applying, I wanted to pass along the info.

Thanks. Good information. Do you know if this card is underwritten through GEMB? Or is it a different bank?

It is GEMB and they offer a Banana Visa as well

Thank you both for the info. I had actually tried GEMB a few months ago for Old Navy (I think), and also JC Penny. Was denied for both. But then again, I do have a bankruptcy within 2 years, so they may not like that.

First line on application:

Must be clear of Bankruptcy. You have a long wait.

There never seems to be a rhyme or reason to approvals and denials. They still offer the BR Visa card?

Applied online.... Funny enough, I was denied Old Navy but approved for Banana Republic....

They do off the Visa card but I was approved for the store card. Who knows the reason I was approved. I'm happy despite the low limit.

I actually do have recent inquiries on EQ and new accounts. I had 2 from this year CAP 1 and HSBC which led to new accounts that are only 3 months and 2 months old. So apparently it didn't bother them much at all considering how new they are.

And btw...I applied on Saturday and the card is reporting on all 3 credit bureaus already! Wow...they are fast!

Going off on a little tangent... I app'd for a walmart card just now (GEMB also?). I logged into walmart.com and when I filled out the APP, my maiden name was already prefilled on the app. Only realizing this after I got the 7-10 day message. I called the backdoor number, and they said to reapply with the correct name. Does this sound right to you?

I would be surprised if the system would take 2 apps in the same day for your social. I would escelate to supervisor and see if you can reach anyone with some power to make the changes on the app that was denied and reconsider it with the correct info.
