This is good information to know. Do you know if I got a credit card with this bank whether or not that credit card would be transitioned over to a NFCU credit card? I wasn't able to find any additional information on this acquisition and didn't know if anyone else knew how this may work.

You are so graceful. Thank you. Even though I always wanted to apply for a Navy FCU membership after hearing the high credit limits they were giving on their credit cards, I will pass on this one and grow with my current financial institutions. I have more credit card products then I actually need.

But this sounds so tempting, I think I might have to leave the site for a couple of months, lol.

Why not just apply once the conversion happens? I got $7k CL with a 650 EQ.

Just be prepared for a hard inquiry on EX unless it's frozen if you decide to join.

Well, I've already applied to NFCU and they rejected me because I had an account with them previously, but had a bankruptcy in which they were included in. I listed the thread below regarding the topic there, but I didn't want this particular topic to get too off the subject of the OP.

Oh yea, that sucks then. I'm not sure what will happen if you get a card with USA first then, but it sounds like a risky way to hurt your AAoA with a new closed account do to sudden AA by NFCU.

I took a big gamble and applied for an account in hopes that my membership status would carry over to NFCU. I'm not eligible to join NFCU, but rolling the dice on this one with hopes I can qualify for some of their products if this deal will go through.

They pulled EX, FYI, and probably also checked Chex.

So I went online and completed an application. Well, I got through the part where they pull your credit and they ask you all these questions. Well, my questions all just based around my residency. Anyhow, I chose all of the correct answers and it tells me that it cannot verify my identity because my answers don't match my credit report. Well, I have a copy of my credit report right here and everything does match. So I called them. The lady said that the only way they can do verification is to go into a local branch or through that online system. She said they will allow me to do 2 applications, so I can make a brand new username and password, take another inq, then try again. So, I said, what if that doesn't work. I told her that all the answers I am putting in are correct. She said if the 2nd application doesn't work, then there is nothing they can do. They don't have no other way to do a verification since I am not near a local branch and that they just would not be able to open an account. This seems really weird. Anyone else running into this? I don't have any freezes or anything on my credit reports.

Since they pulled EX on me, it may be safe to assume they will pull EX on you too. I would pull EX to see how that reports per demographics. It also asked me 3 questions. Ironically, 2 of the 3 were exactly the same. Try answering based on the info on your report. BTW, the first question was a "check all that apply" type question and I almost missed that.

I had exactly the same experience as Taz except that I was told that if I wanted to do the second application (new user name, etc), there would not be an additional pull. So, I did. This time, I pulled an old EX hard copy and was careful to answer the multiple answers in same question box and was accepted. Now, they are reviewing the app and will notify me within 2 days of their decision.

That was this morning.

This afternoon, I pulled a tri-merge report through USAA and sure enough, there is only one pull and it was Experian.

So, it's a wait and see game. I'm also applying in hopes to being "grandfathered" into NFCU.

I grew so tired of waiting for son & dil to join NFCU so I could join I joined NASA last week.....

Well I bit the bullet and just apped for USA Fed and received the email of they will let me know in two days but I still have to wait until I get home to scan my id and two recent pay stubs and upload it to them.....

Taz, I think I'm confused and since I'm not sure, then I must be . . .

I have no problem getting my EX report from many sources. It's the FICO score that we can't get here.

Yep it was me that was confused. I was just thinking about the score itself. anyhow, I bit the bullet and bought another report from experian's website, and I do see that is who the credit union used. Well, I just tried to app again, and still they say they cannot verify my identify. I read the questions very carefully and do see where they have the check boxes where you are supposed to "check all that apply". There has got to be a glitch or something because I did everything exactly as it was from my credit report. And the questions that they asked me were exactly the same as the questions I was asked the last time. This is truly crazy. I don't understand why I am having so much trouble.

Maybe they are just using this as an excuse to not give me an account because they can see that I had a bankruptcy which included NFCU. ah, maybe it's just not meant to be

Can't you just then send in a paper application by mail, if the two online attempts fail? I would think so. They can always accept your application by mail.

+1. Also, maybe they are basing some info off Chex. I'm always careful when using Chexsystems because they tell me I have two different files with them. I think it happened when a bank criss-crossed by SSN with DW's.

My cousin just went online to apply for this membership, and was offer Savings & Checking and a Visa Cash Rewards with an initial credit limit of $20K.

This is making me want to apply very badly. This is crazy stuff, they just ask him to upload, or fax his income verification and CDL, lol.

It happened to me as well.

I did it twice and answer the questions correctly and still they can not verify who i am.

I have fico scores in the 750's and no derogs on any report so it cant be because of your bankrutcpy Tazman.

I just think there is something wrong with there system.

I will call them up because i have done it twice and if they will not accept my application then they need to remove the inq.
