It is GEMB. If you don't qualify for the discover, then you will most likely just get the walmart store card for a lower limit.

If that is your current score than you probably wont qualify for the discover card. But you can build your history with the store card

GE usually starts approving around the 590-610 range I believe... not sure about much lower than that

There was a recent thread on this forum from a member stating the contacted Walmart about the Discover card and it was stated you need a $3,000.00 cl to be considered which I find bogus and no upgrades, does anyone out there remember reading this thread? I think it is harder nowadays to get a discover, I would prefer this card instead of my regular walmart.

You're probably referring to my post in that thread. The CSR told me to somehow get a $3k CL and to keep my account in good standing for at least a year..

yes, someone also stated you could go into walmart and go to the kiosk and input current card info and apply for the discover and if you qualify it will upgrade current account... but I can't say I have ever seen a kiosk in a walmart to apply for either card.

Thanks for the information, I quess for me it will take quite a number of years from now at the rate of $100.00 or less cl every 4 months, I am only at 1,425.00.

But I'm pretty sure that the CSR stressed more on keeping the account open in good standing for at least a year. When she mentioned the $3k CL part, she was more like "......I guess"...

I applied on Friday 9/24 via the Walmart website and received an instant approval for the Walmart Discover Card only $700 CL. Although low, I'm content at this point.

TU 641

EQ 635

Ex 655

They pulled Equifax. Also applied for the Discover More Card and was approved for $3K 0% interest for 6 months. Not sure why the difference in CL's.

Is walmart discover thru hsbc? If so is it the same as having an HSBC Discover card?

Unfortunately No....It's financed through GE Money Bank.

the Walmart store card is through GEMB, and the Walmart Discover is through HSBC. Unless, perhps, Walmart Financial Services acts as a go between with the issuers and has a way to convert.

not sure if this is correct....but the discover card is through GEMB.
