Want my AMEX platinum back!!!

What credit score do they use?....lost AMEX, 4/09 due to foreclosure of one of my 3 properties. Was perfect card since I business travel often. Credit score was 820 before FC. Always have had excellent credit card history; income $200,000. Now Experian score 990, but FICO 708. Thought I'd apply online, but want too avoid hard hit on credit score if going to be denied. What should I do?

you should call and talk to AmEx CSR directly, they are one of the most smart and helpful CSR, since you are previous acct holder.

Go to the part of their website for pre-selected offers and put in your name, address, zip and last 4 of your social. Should nothing come up call and apply. I don't like the website route. If they say no try a recon through the backdoor number. Keep us posted.

American Express has their own scores, they don't use FICO. They pull Experian usually.

My U just over 700,

EQ was 690, EX??? and had 2 inquiries before this Plat pull. I got a Zync 2 months before Platinum and Zync was instant approval and Platinum took 4 days before they approved it..

Applied via their web site.

Did not receive any pre-approval invitations in the mail and did not get a pre-qualify for any cards on their web site when I tried.

Both were flat out hard pulls directly from their site.

Try to do this: American Express homepage, click on apply under "Personal" click on "Become a card member now" then click on "Not a card member yet" then it should bring up the box to enter you name, address, and the last 4 of your SSN. Then click "See my special card offers". If nothing comes up just call the regular number. I did that and was approved instantly for Zync with a TU 691 and EQ 700. Now I am getting all kinds of offers from them : ). If you get denied try calling this AmEx Oasis Program: 888-232-3261 American Express Credit Bureau Unit: 800-874-2717. Must have a current credit report before calling. They will ask for the account number from the credit report, which is different from your card number.

Hate to be a pain, but not finding "the" exact Amex website that has these options ie: become a card member etc! Thx for all help.

Here's the follow-up...applied online and response was...

"Your credit report contains one or more of the following: foreclosure, repossession, bankruptcy, garnishment of wages, or a defaulted student loan." Will be off my credit report as of 2015, so it says, but I'll probably be retired by then!

Call them request a recon. Have a copy of your EX full report ready. Your scores are higher than mine. It wouldn't make any difference cuz you already used the INQ. Also, might be beneficial to ask for Zync or Green/Gold. Once you have reestablished move up to the Platinum. Let us know the outcome.
