Amex Luv button available. Need help now

It's asking for a new credit line and then asking for yearly income. Will this be a soft pull or hard? Also, I am thinking of going from 2k to 5k. What do you think? Also, it's not exactly 6 months yet until 10/25/2010

If I check my credit report right now, will it tell me now if it was soft or hard?

If you pull a full report from EX (as opposed to a credit-monitoring report), the kind that shows softs, it should show up. (A hard, too, if there was one.)

If you pull a credit-monitoring version, the kind that only shows hards, it shouldn't show a hard. But since they don't always refresh right up to the minute (take a look at when the balances change as your clue ), the absence of a hard doesn't mean that there wasn't a hard. It might just not be showing up.

But really, everything I've read and personally experienced has shown that CLI's for AmEx are softs.

I have the blue cash card but I don't see a luv button.

You won't be able to use it for 6 months for any Amex CCs.

If you try again before 6 months, you will get a letter saying they were not able to offer you a CLI because you received one within the past 6 months.

It's probably worth marking the day or adding a reminder to your calendar for when 6 months is up. That's what I do.

Thanks for the heads-up! My "luv button" had disappeared for quite a while, of course just in that moment when I had decided to push it. After your post, I decided to go and look, and indeed, it showed up again today .

So my CL finally went up from $2000 to $6000. It was about time.

Answers to some still open questions from the thread:

According to what I read from other people, you can usually request three times your current limit without risking a hard pull. Of course, they can still say No.

The CLI request button will be on the "recent activity" page, above the "dispute charge" button, if it's there.

My CLI button is also still visible, although I used it yesterday. I know better than to use it again, though .
