I had to use the search function on AmEx to find this, but here it is under their FAQ's:

To view Pending Charges, log into your online Card account, select your personal or business Card, and then click on "Recent Activity". A "View Pending Charges" link is located just above your posted transactions list.

I'm sure it is just a coincidence, but who knows.

Barclays has had the pending charges listed just below the recent activity for some time. I really like it, too. Especially when you have a recurring charge about to hit, you see the temporary charge a day or two before, and the corresponding drop in available credit.

A few months back, I remember getting one of those Amex survey requests and followed the link. When they asked for any ideas for improvement, I suggested they add a way to view pending charges the way some other companies do. Now, voila! Pending charges on the Amex site.

Finally.

The one (and only) thing I liked better about my BofA card than my Amex was that I could view pending charges. It's about time Amex caught up.

It's cool to see activity right away when you charge a card. Then when it post, it goes down to recent activity and isn't pending anymore.
