Update! Does Macy's Have Special Financing?

Thinking of buying the DW a watch this christmas and found one thats nice on the macys site. Its a little over 1800 and as much as I love my macys card I do not love the APR. Do they offer any special financing for big purchases like 0 for 6 months or one of those. If not I can just put it on amex and pay in full but I love free money.

I agree also, it would just be another account added onto your credit report, just reducing your AAoA.

They do have special financing. Ditto to the new TL reporting. But Macys does offer 0% on 12 months to 24 month options, and maybe other choices too. IIRC, the offers are advertised from time to time and they don't necessarily offer it all the time. You'd want to ask them. BTW, if they do have a special promotion going on, there's an outside chance they'll add 2 new TLs as opposed to one. That's what happened when I bought a new bed for 0% for 24 mo. One TL was for special financing at any time I wanted and they'd assign a limit at the time of purchase. The other TL was for the special promo. Of course none of them report a limit after this past spring.

So I went back into the store today. I had went on wed when they were having a sale and it was a total mess. You do have to open up a new account a club account they called it to get 0 percent for 12 months and I couldnt get one because my report is frozen and they wouldnt except my pin. I was on the phone in the store for almost an hour and the women kept telling me you have the credit on your card just use that to which my response was im not paying 24.5% interest. I ended up leaving mad for the waste of time. And im a little cheap so I wasnt totally excited about such a big purchase. I could of just used amex but that would a been a red flag to the DW and it would have ruined the whole christmas suprise. I figured id wait till just before christmas so she wouldnt see the amex charge till after christmas. Anyway today I figured id give it one more try. I called another macys about 45 minutes away. In delaware (no sales tax) and spoke to the manager to she if they could meet the sales price from the other day. She said the system wouldnt let her but if I came in she would take care of me. So I went after work and she was very nice. She ended up getting me the watch for cheaper than the price from 2 days ago because of some sale coming up in 2 weeks. I did a presale and I have to pick it up on dec 1st. dont care because its a christmas gift. So the point of the whole story I unfroze my report and got the "Club" account and have 12 months no interest. Plus she told be if I donated 25 dollars to a Thanks for Sharing program (I donate for the holidays anyway) I would get a gift certificate for 10 % of all my purchases till dec 31st. So ontop of the great deal I get 160 dollar gift card after christmas! Sorry for my rant theres nothing better than free money!!

Oh and on a side note. When I bought the watch today they had to call in for the "club" account thing. The manager put me on the phone with the credit rep who was not a nice person at all. She told me the computer said I was not approved and I should work on my credit and just use my store card and id get a letter and then hung up on me. I got a little mad due to ive worked very hard on my credit and its not an 850 but its pretty clean. just new accounts and a bunch of inq's. I told the manager who was extremely nice and she got mad and called back and asked for a supervisor. I got on the phone with her (she was nice unlike the other women) She told me the computer said I wasnt approved because my report was frozen and told me sorry. I then told her thats what I was told 2 days ago and had unfroze my report this morning. She then noticed that the previous mean rep didnt try to pull my report she just went by the denial 2 days prior and denied me again. The supervisior pulled my report and instantly approved me! She then asked me if I wanted and AMEX also! Now for anyone reading any of my prior macys posts I want one REAL BAD! Its so pretty and shiny white! It took all of strengh to take a deep breath and say NO. I really wanted it but I could see having 3 macys accounts reporting it seemed crazy since I hardly use my store card as it is and none of them report limits to help util. So its also a milestone for me I turned down a card I had been dreaming about to help the greater good that is my credit. And thats again for reading my rants nobody I work or hang out with cares about my credit ventures.

Side note - Macy's Amex does report a limit!!

However, with a store card and club account open and a 3rd account that opened with the club account to just sit there in case you wanted to buy furniture or something, opening the amex would have been your 4th Macy's.

But they are usually really good with CLI, I would have taken it!

Didnt know about the CL reporting. I wouldve went for it. And question I started when I walked into the store with just a store card and they setup or opened or whatever they call it a club account. Now I wont have 1 line reporting from them i'll have 3?

I have 4 lines reporting.

The Store and what use to be Visa report opened the day we did it in store.

The furniture (club) account and another account that just sits there with no limit and no use show open the day I bought the furniture.

However the upside is I recently bought more furniture and they extended a new line but it ended up showing up under the furniture line I already had so I didn't get dinged another new account with new date.

So if I pay off this club account will it stay open for when I make another big purchase or will it close and then if I want to make another big purchase ill have to take a inquiry and a new account hit? Macys is confusing.

I'm actually not sure of this because I had about $400 still on my furniture account when I went back for more. First time they issued me a $3600 line and I spent $2900, second time they issued me a $4800 line and I spent $5400 and then went back and spent another 2k so had to put the difference on my Macy's store account which I paid off due to the high interest!

they most likely made the limit what you were purchasing. even in the past when they were reporting limits, the special finance account would cld each month after payment to stay close to what you owed, if you want to buy more, they in terms open you a new cl even though they will end up putting it under the same special finance account you already have.
